Here are some quotes from the panelists who spoke at the Amiwest banquet this evening. They were Bill Buck, Ben Hermans, moderator Kermit Woodall, Jens Shoenfeld, and Jeri Elsworth. Kermit: This is a great time to be in this community. We are getting new products.

Ben: Thanks for your patience. Thanks for waiting for OS4. There's new hardware just around the corner. 30 people [referring to Mai Logic] are working on the Amiga One hardware. I just came back from Fremont California where I had a meeting with some executives who had just returned from Taiwan. The Amiga One Lite is just around the corner. I'm very excited. There's no reason not to buy your Amiga One now. New things are right around the corner. There is modular work to be done to get OS4 on the Amiga One, things like serial device. These things haven't been done yet but it's not rocket science. Right now we are focused on finishing OS4.

Jens: I would like to talk about the Catweasel. It allows very low level access to a disk. The Catweasel may be able to read degrading, old disks. I am talking tonight about software for a change, the software we use for this. It's graphical, open-sourced, will be released for Windows first. Ports for Linux, MorphOS and Amiga OS should follow. Here's a diagram of low level magnetic flux transmissions.

Jeri: Three years ago I decided to make my own computer. I was fanatical about the C64 as a child. I took an early version of the computer to a C64 convention and the crowd went nuts. Jens assisted me with financial backing for my work and invited me to Germany where I spent 5 or 6 months creating the current board.

@Emeric:

"...you probably won't read the comments on morphos-news.de like as Wayne is a "Red infiltrator?" "

Are you serious about people posting comments like that on the MOS news-site?? Bloody hell, things are worse than I thought.

Still, if people are prepared to believe that there really isn't an organised attempt to undermine the AmigaOne project then they'll believe just about anything...

In reply to Comment 48 (Mikey C):
>With all due respect your majesty, you are not exactly neutral either are you?

You were the one claiming to be neutral. I'm the one pointing out your hypocrisy. You slag off Amiga.org for being biased yet you are completely and utterly biased yourself, and frequent an irc channel and web site with similar bias.

>So you are admitting that Amiga.org is indeed biased against Amiga, it's products and
>therefore by your own argument not neutral QED

First of all, Amiga Inc don't have any products - that's kinda why they are in the predicament they are in.

Seondly, Amiga.org is what the users make it. If, in your opinion, it is biased against Amiga Inc then you're saying that it's users are biased against Amiga Inc. Considering that it is by far the largest Amiga Community site on the Internet, this doesn't exactly spell a rosy future for them does it?

>(Next Lando goes on to prove that Black is white and get killed at the next Zebra crossing)

Hehe, funny. You'll be competing with Ray Akey for the AmigaWorld comedian of the year prize this year I assume? :o) He had me in stitches this afternoon on IRC referring to Greenboy as "Greendick" and Bill Buck as "Buckwit". Must've taken him ages to think those up.

>Yes I am happy at Amigaworld.net if only because I don't have to put up with certain
>narrow minded individuals.

Well, having looked at Amigaworld.net I think it's the best place for you. I'm glad you're happy there.

>The only thing Amiga about Amiga.org is the name.
>(In my humble opinion of course)

Rather like Amiga Inc, then.

Darrin... Sorry about that, but I have to say it... If you believe that there
IS an organised attempt against anything, YOU ARE AN IDIOT!
And as I said in another thread, you assume a lot. Me and A LOT of others,
wouldn't even agree to any conditions such as discrediting other products
systematically. Yes, I have said bad things about the AmigaOne. Does that mean
that Genesi told me to do so? If you believe so...
Yes, I have said *MANY* bad AND true things about Amiga Inc... They are my
personal opinion, which I shaped during the last 4 years, 2 advocating, one
pretty neutral and one as their enemy. Genesi has nothing to do with that.
And NO, I have not said anything bad about OS4.

Ehm, the new product around the corner is the "lite" version. So you're looking for a discount _down_grade scheme? ;-)

Er I would strongly dispute the "Largest Amiga Community Site" tag. It's not quite credible.

I'm sorry Alkis, but if you can't see that certainly LOOKS like an organsied attack then it's you who is the idiot. Perhaps you are not an enlisted member of the "Blue SS", but you're at least part of the "Blue Youth". You see, birds of a feather flock together and if you insist on nesting with the vultures then you're going to start looking like a carcass eating scavenger.

The facts are as follows:

1. People with no interest in OS4, Amiga Inc & the AmigaOne are CONTANTLY attacking the companies, products and supporters. Why?

2. When a news item that is pro-OS4/AmigaOne is posted, people feel the need to istantly attack the news article, pick it to pieces and attempt to manipulate the words to bring a whole new negative meaning to the text.

3. If one person happens to defend Amiga Inc/OS4/AmigaOne then the same gang of thugs appear from nowhere to attack the poster.

4. The vast majority of the people who post these attacks are self confessed Blue Camp followers.

5. The vast majorty of the Blue Camp followers who make these attacks are old enough and educated enough to know better.

6. Despite the fact that these attacks put MOS/Pegasos supporters in a bad light, Bill Buck refuses to ask these people to stop their campaign in public.

7. Despite the fact that these attacks put the MOS/Pegasos project in a bad light, Bill Buck refuses to distance himself from these attackers.

I could go on, but that will do for now. Chew those FACTS over in your head and tell me I'm an idiot...

@ Alkis:

>Ah, I'm an idiot then, cause I do not see anti-OS4 conspiracies
everywhere...

No, you're an idiot because you called me one and because you fail to see how the constant attacks could be perceived as being part of an organsied campaign. Do you understand what I'm saying now? I'm not STATING that there is a campaign, just that due to the actions of certain individuals there APPEARS to be one. Of course, the reason why there APPEARS to be one is because there may well BE one. ;-)

>BTW, I've been testing MorphOS since beta 0.1 and I have a Pegasos
site under construction.

And what does that have to do with the price of jam? I have a cat called Sam if that's any help. ???

>There's no Genesi-SS.

Excellent news. Are you sure? Did you look in the closet? Did you check behind the sofa?

>Bill asked me and others to stop many times. I've been asked to stop attacking samface for example.

That's good to hear. I'm glad (and not surprised) that Bill Buck has asked you to do that, and it's a shame he didn't make such requests in public so that even more people could understand that such attacks benefit no-one. If that had happened then perhaps we wouldn't be having this discussion.

However, this admission of yours, while making Bill Buck look good, says a lot about you and your chums. What you're telling me is that even though someone like Bill Buck who you should repect asks you to stop these mindless attacks (because it isn't doing his company any favours), you still insist on this juvenile campaign of yours in order to boost your miserable ego and to upset anyone that does not agree with your own personal views? Thanks for making that clear Alkis. You've really sunk to a new depth. I've obviously been very wrong about you.

>YOU are the one that does not see everything.

Obviously. I thought you were a decent human being, but thanks to your confession I now know different. Crawl buck under your rock. It's really nice to know that Gensei and Amiga will NEVER co-operate as long as we have people like you stiring the pot. Well done, I hope you're proud!

>NOTHING you posted is a fact.

EVERYTHING I posted is still a fact. Point out 1 of those 7 points I made that is still not true.

No judgement here. Not a conviction. Innocent until proven guilty, unless you are of a certain religious background and ethnic origin and a non US citizen I believe still holds in the USA yes?

Well not entirely. There are things you can be punished for in the US w/o a trial. Actions by the IRS are outside of the court system. For example they could say you failed to pay you're taxes and we're taking your house and you'd have little recourse. Also, different actions against National Security can get you removed by the FBI for a long, long time w/o charges being filed against you. Plus, you could always be looked at as an enemy combatant and be 'tried' in a miltary court. Where innocence is looked as atypical.

However, in about 95% of the US citizens on US soil innocent until proven guilty does apply.

Undermine the AmigaONE? What the heck, do you think the AmigaONE is some kind of government or something?

If you're trying to say that Genesi is out to take away sales of the AmigaONE, you'd be right. But, so are VIA, Intel, AMD, Apple, IBM, Sun, HP, Gateway, Dell, Micron, and Microsoft. It's called "Competition". Genesi is out to sell a product. Eyetech is out to sell a product. They both sell similar products, namely Computers. As a result, they are competing, and taking sales away from the other one. This is not undermining, it is competition. If you cannot grasp this, then I am sorry, but this is how a free market economy works. And if you don't like that, feel free to move to one of the few communist states left. (I hear Cuba is nice this time of year)

In reply to Comment 75 (Darrin):
Point 1.

By signing on for the competing product, one is showing an interest in the core business model, and more importantly, an interest in the market itself. As a result, any and all products in that market or vertical niche (the Amiga in this case is a vertical niche) are of interest to that person, since they have just "bought in" to it. This covers not only the products purchased, but other products within the marketplace itself.

Since all of your other points are built around Point 1, thereby they are also false, since by simply being willing to buy a neo-Amiga in the first place, it grants the person a reason to be interested in the various efforts.
