I don't think that Genesi team was so stupid to ignore bug reports from Elena Novaretti who is a very respected member of amiga community and author of a program ZoneXplorer which donates "brightness" to Pegasos...

And to call her "a certain person" makes no honour to you...

but she is not the sole "certain person" who claimed for concrete feedback from Genesi and received no answers...

Facts speaks that a lot's of persons reported this bug...

...and Genesi demonstrates no interest into resolving it!

But when people (mainly people from ouside amiga community and hypotetical buyers) begin to notice mangled images outputted by ZoneXplorer...

...which is a good killer application to demonstrate superiority of Pegasos...

...only at this time Genesi come back on its feet and promised to resolve the notorius ILBM bug.

Nice to discover they had resolved it!

Please ??
Reported bugs are always corrected when possible (like it was proven to you in this thread). Free hardware is often donated to software developers.
How can you write such plain wrong sentences about current situation ?

>but she is not the sole "certain person" who claimed for concrete feedback from Genesi and received no answers...

Please ??
Receiving software beta version several years before public release, receiving machine... and you claim it's not feeback and good will ?

>Facts speaks that a lot's of persons reported this bug...

And it was corrected.

>...and Genesi demonstrates no interest into resolving it!

It was corrected, damn.

Came back from what ?
Promised what and where ?
I think you are terribly mistaken :/

>Nice to discover they had resolved it!

What's so special about correcting a reported bug ? It's how thing works and will always work.
I really don't get where is coming from your sad (but untrue) story. :/

This new Morphos update is amazing. This is now officially the only OS
that ever compared to my Amiga and now has passed it in my opinion.
It is fast, smooth, and has lots of configurability.
It runs old Amiga apps like crazy. Lightwave is awesome on the JIT and
Pro Station Audio is too much. I have used every version of Windows, Linux
Amiga, Beos, Mac etc. and this is the best OS ever!
This is great to see, Great job Morphos Team, thanks to BBRV as well.

I have reported a bug that has been checked right away by the MorphOS team.
I have been told that despite the imminent freezing of the 1.4 release the fix would be included in 1.4.
Saturdy I got 1.4 and the bug disappeared.
I think some people do not understand that when they found a problem the solution can not always be released immediately.
The developers are working on a live OS releases and can not release patches here and there because of all the dependencies it involves.

Are you saying that Elena never got any answer from the MorphOS team ?
Or do you mean that when the problem was reported the patch was not immediately distributed ?

As I'm here I congratulate all the MorphOS team for the 1.4 release and wish them to be as successfull for the upcoming releases.

I recall seeing Elena complain about this bug on the mailinglists, and
I also recall the MOS team answering.. I might misremember, but I
really don't understand this "no response" stuff. I think that
somewhere in Italy there must be some very relaxed person indeed, who
stole all the patience from the other Italians. ;-)

Hello,

@Raffaele

I've just tested ZoneXplorer 1.1 in MorphOS 1.4 Public release. I can testify that ILBM saving bug is gone and that it works just fine (tested on several modules).

So it has indeed been fixed.

In reply to Comment 93 (Anonymous):
Because none will program for an emulator (like UAE and its derivates showed). X86 half ports (but the word "port" is tooo big) are 4-5, while a new platform with clear programming approach like Mos is able to create a lots of recompiles, ports, new soft or optimizations of old amiga software (frogger is the maximum example of that). If here we continue to compare New Os and hardware to emulators ... well Eyetech, Genesi, Hyperion and MOS team should close their activities and pass on the Windows market, m8.
Not only.
ACTUALLY also amithlon on my XP 2200+ is way slower than Mos1.4 on G3 600 and I think that only on a P4 3000 with HT on (aka with a MB with Springdale or Cantherwood) could beat it, and My doubts still rest due the fact that in MOS only the program itself is emulated (by trance that is really SUPER-FAST!) while all libraries are PPC native. Under Amithlon except little parts(20% for Bernd) ALL must be emulated! First of all the fundamental DOS library and Exec that are native on MOS.
Cmq you can choose between the support for new and alternative companies and the support for Windows market.
I can only say that thx to Genesi, Bplan, Mos team I have a new computer capable to run an "amigalike" os fast and clean.

PS:
PC SUX.

Raffaele, Elena had answer of its bug on the ML from Ralph Smith by the time that of it has made signalling. The problem is that she wanted a patch just for her and, for a OS that is in fairs, it seems absurd for me to send patch to right and left to all Mos developers that nearly find a bug :D
They fixed hundreds of bugs respet 1.3 and this listening to the probs that was reported on Morph-Dev ML.

Yes they would, its called customer service. They may not reply to every single one, but in theory if the first answer was appropriate enough there would not be multiple questions.

Customer service is about managing people, you cannot clearly manage everyone and cannot manage troublemakers ( except there managing people comes down to giving a troublemaker enough rope to hang themselves ) but "serious" software companies focus heavily on after sales service and support.

Oi Ppl...??? Are you there???

I think we have a *SERIOUS* problem in communicating here...

Better to summarize all things happened before...
--------------------------------------------------

1)
I simply asked this (in msg. 64):

***If among all those new features they gives us with MorphOS 1.4, then Genesi team was so clever to fix problems still present...***

2)
Among all the problems It was the notorious ILBM bug...
So I asked PRINCIPALLY about that...

AND

3)
Johan Rönnblom (msg. 71) answered me positively...

SO (at that moment)

4)
I was (msg. 85) quite satisfied and I didn't need any further infos...

***BUT***

(AND HERE STARTS ANOTER QUARREL)

I)
SUDDENLY it comes out mr. Nowee (msg. 86) and he did not understand what I am asking for...

SO

II)
While swearing the human stupidity, I began to plain explicate what I intended to ask about...
(I made it in msg. 99)

BUT AGAIN

III)
Then come out the more notorious Mr. Tsapanides (msg. 101) stating that:

>I don't think that a serious firm would reply
>to a thousant of posts about a certain bug by one certain person...

AND

IV)
The sole person (at my present knoledge about this whole fact -msg. 102-)...

...who had posted a thousand mail about the resolution of ILBM bug was only Elena Novaretti...

***Other persons complained about that bug, but not so much as Elena did...***

***BECAUSE PEOPLE ASCRIBED ILBM BUG TO A PROGRAMMING FAULT OF HERSELF*** not to a lack in the OS, that they don't know about...

V)
It is obvious that Tsapanides refers to her, because she is...

(and I repeat again ***at my knowledge of the whole ILBM bug fact***)

...the person who mainly asked this bug to be fixed...

And this is why I become upset!

Unfortunately I know (on my skin) how insensible and insulting was Mr. Tsapanides, a good representative of the insensibility of some people of Genesi Team...

...And I can't bear anymore such insensiblity who laughed at the back of a professional developer who was only guitlty to had signalled an annoying bug.

VI)
I don't know of any further complaint...

***about this bug or others***

...coming from any comment from the person Miss/Mrs. Novaretti

BECAUSE

VII)
I don't know her personally,

***I'VE ONLY HEARD ABOUT THE STORY OF THE MILLION E-MAILS SENDED BY HER AND BY SOMEONE ELSE***,

*****BUT MAINLY FROM HER*****

(and this is the third time I try to explain it to you)

VIII)
So please do not speculate of any further complaints she made

and do not ascribe me things that I *DO NOT* wrote.

***Before starting to write again please read carefully what I wrote in the previous messages...***

I hope mainly that this message I wrote was quite explicative of all the quarrel!!!

Because I am tired to being misinterpreted...

First in my explication to mr. Nowee,

and then

When I answered to the "innuendo" of Tsapanides

who was referring with the word "certain person"

to a person that we all had recognized for (i.e. Elena Novaretti)

Good to see that list of new and improved features, I feel a bit jealous as I wait for OS4 :)
One question: the updated versions of TurboPrint and MUI look interesting as I use those on my classic Amiga. When I get my new Amiga (with OS4), will there be versions of these programs available for me, or will I be stuck with old 68k versions? (Or will the versions for Morphos work directly?)
I realise that we will have the new Reaction GUI on OS4, but I expect to use a few older programs which need MUI as well, and it would be nice to have a fast native version.

Thanks

I'd wager you'd be stuck with the older 68k versions for some time. The developers of these products might port to AOS4 at some point in the future, but without AOS4, no effort could be expended for this.

But not too late, there are still Pegasos' availible from Pegasos-uk. 8)

If this is true, and it is obviously your own "Word" and not a voice from the masses (i.e. a gossip)...

Then this fact changes all the lights in the entire quarrel...

NO ONE HAS UNIQUE RIGHTS TO ASK FOR A PATCH OF HIS OWN...

If your words are true...

Hyperion thinks of MUI has legacy, this is way there is a MUI wrapper on OS4.0 and not a full scale package, they like to OS to be consistent, there is allows a gad-tools wrapper as gad-tools replacement, every thing is processed and redirected to the reaction library.
