Ahm, some way this looks like a sort of advertising.
Its mainly a detailed description of features and options, while the
aspects of still missing features and especially unfixed bugs from 1.3
weren't really adressed. Yes, who likes to focus ion the dark side
if theres much light, but since some people using 1.3 weren't that
satisfied, doubt remains wether all Pegasos users would agree with
a just positive view of 1.4 and the future of MOS.

Why do the screenshots show the logo for Microsoft WinAmp (the white square with the lightning) in them? And yet, there is a bastardized program of it open on the desktop, showing "AmigaAMP". See screenshot: http://www.telusplanet.net/public/samel/review/s2.png

Did MorphOS obtain a license from Microsoft? And how can they be using 'Amiga'-anything within their OS? I also noticed "WBStartup" there, in one of the windows showing programs listed in text. That's purely Amiga.

Winamp is not made by Microsoft...

Ok, well, that leaves the Amiga-related issues. But as for as WinAmp, I always thought it was Microsoft. I just looked it up and see it's not. Did MorphOS get a license for it from Nullsoft, then?

In reply to Comment 4 (EyeAm):
The MorphOS A/Box works the same way as AmigaOS (even if it's a 100% rewrite with many changed and if what's around it is completely different). The WBStartup drawer was thus kept for compatibility purposes (but you can change it).

Ah... Another PC user - Amigan wannabe...

It's AmigaAMP... One of the most used Amiga MP3 players. It uses WinAmp skins.
It's 68k, with PUP and WUP decoding engines, it's an Amiga program.
It works on MOS, through emulation.

Guess you've never used neither AmigaAMP nor WinAMP .. I suggest you check out the skins section on http://www.winamp.com/ .. You'll see that there's tons of skins freely available for download there...

(BTW, incase it escaped you, no, AmigaAMP is not included with MorphOS, the person who made those screengrabs has downloaded and installed it and the skins himself)...

Err.. yes, that's kinda how it works.

There's also Libs, C, S, L, S/Startup-sequence, S/User-startup, Devs, Devs/Dosdrivers, Devs/Datatypes, Devs/Monitors...

I suppose it's for the ABox emulation to work. Does this mean that the QBox is supposed to be the 'real' MOS?

Amiga AMP works great on Morphos and looks very much like winamp
with that skin pictured. As far as the icon with the lighting bolt
goes, morphos allows you to make any png into an icon for the launch
bar. Also songplayer works great too.

why oh why do reviewers think that they can slap Amiga specific
words into multiple-platform websites without explanation or description?

it doesnt help sell it. No Linux user or Windows user knows what
Warp3D is, or what Turboprint is etc. to an Amigan, these are
'exciting' or 'essential' features. to other people...well, they are just
meaningless words.

..and for all those people bitching about how colourful/gross/crowded/etc
the recent AmigaOS4 screenshots were....the selection of MorphOS shots
giben to OSNews are JUST AS BAD ;-)

the morphos screenshots are awesome. A good review tells all about
a product whether people know the lingo or not. Otherwise it would
be incomplete.
I give that Morphos 1.4 review 5 out of 5 stars... excellent!
