The 3.0 version of the soccer game Eat The Whistle has been rereleased as GPL.

The game has been almost fully rewritten to be portable and will be available in the next days for Win32, MacOSX, Linux x86, AmigaOS 68k and MorphOS, you can find it here. After about 5 years from the commercial amiga release I've chosen to distribute ETW again, in the past years in my spare time I've ported it to SDL, so that it can runs in the wider range of platforms possible. I've also added a few features and the possibility to make matches through TCP/IP (with a server), but I've not had enough time to make all the new stuff bug free. I hope that this release will help Eat The Whistle to grow as developers and users and become a successfull opensource game!

ETW was a good game. Not Kick Off 2 level, but good! Can't wait to get my nostalgic hands on it again.

Brilliant. If memory serves, this was the first commercial Amiga PPC game to be announced but it was delayed, giving Wipeout 2097 the credit of being the first commercial PPC game.

We have AHI, just no drivers yet apart from VOID and FILE, but those ought to be enough to make a port of ETW, no?

hmmm, a quick download of the data and linux executable..and i get a lot of case-sensitive error messages.... Pitcha+.gfx is the filename
on the system..the program wants pitcha+.gfx etc...as well as t/ directory..
which aint gonna exist on Linux! oh well....i'll keep tinkering away and reading docs

right.

rename Pitch*+.gfx to pitch*.gfx (lower case) and the system does come to life...well, SDL gfx and sound are okay! :-) there a re a few issues still
(like having to make a 't' directory in the ETW directory)..and keyboard doesnt seem to fully work..indded, by pressing a few keys i got a floating
exception and program crash...and the contents of t/result says 'error'
but this does look very promising! cant wait for OS4 verswion ;-)

Crashes on my Athlon XP 1900+, Win2k SP2, DirectX 9, Detonator drivers (to lazy to check version), SB Live Value. Crashes when i had selected teams and were to start the match.

And the menu music is all f*cked up :)
