Good to see progress.

This is one thing the Amiga really does need. The more languages and programming aids there are for AmigaOS, the better - and Java is one of the most important languages today.

Why bother with Java? It's all flash these days!

Good to see further progress, keep it up! :)

I really need Java to be able to do homebanking. No online systems work without Java here in Denmark, not sure why they all use it though.

I was thinking of standalone applications, or server code, rather than applets.

If this guy manages to get the graphics working, Java would be a good language for writing Amiga programs.

I thought it was a classic joke about Java vs. Javascript but maybe I read it wrong :)

So why don't you write a stand alone flash player for Amiga ?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't reading carefully and missed the smiley. It is the kind of negative comment that gets posted as soon as anyone does anything good.

Once everyone has broadband, you'll start to get webpages that require a t3.

"Once everyone has broadband, you'll start to get webpages that require a t3."

Just like HDDs, eh? Like memory.. Like CDs, ZipDrives, etc. The more space you have or the faster your computer becomes (from what you add to it) the faster you want to push the data through the pineline, the more data you want to store, the better you want to compress it...

It's human nature. I agree, though, with the hidden meaning. Just because things become faster doesn't mean we NEED to add more stuff to a web page, but if you buy a bigger HardDrive do you not find yourself store MORE data, installing more software? ;-) Keeping a handle on bloat is a good thing but being able to expand & make stuff even nicer can be really nice, too.

In time the Amiga might have a version of Flash, or even a REALLY useable Java (Fingers crossed!) but until that time there are options. HardDrive get bigger & faster. Now you even have more choices of Operating Systems (which is ALWAYS good...because the Amiga isn't the only Great one out there) which can do more than the Amiga currently can. If the AmigaOne can use Java & Flash, I'll bet even most hard core Amiga fan (including myself) will use them. I do believe they are over used, but I still like them.

I really dig on the fact of being able to Load pages FAST & I also know things are going to become bigger thus requiring faster CPS, faster net connections, more memory, larger hard drives, & on & on. If you don't like it, DO something about it don't just complain. Enough people complain about things, be different. I happen to like the way things are going. People just need to be more efficent & compact much like a GOOD Tight Programmer knows. :)

Those're my 2 cents. :) Hehe. Peace.

The main problem I have with flash is not that it's a resource hog but that it's a pointless resource hog.

I have broadband and still hate Flash websites. Aside from the loading time (which is an issue even on broadband), I dislike having to sit through "intros", and having to spend time learning how to use a completely different interface (and usually far inferior to the GUI provided by the web browser) for each Flash site. And then I forget and press the back button, which means I have to reload the site from the start.
