This is just to let you know that I will be on heading to San Francisco tomorrow, for a California trip lasting just a little over a week, and will return on September 15th. I won't be able to check in a lot, if at all, but I'm hoping this won't be necessary (hint :). I'm planning to implement a few changes (both on the scripts and site acces) when I get back. Stay tuned! :)

Have a great time Christian, wish I was going to San Fran too!

OT, but where is everyone else going or been on holiday this year?

I went to Australia this year - fantastic country!

I'd love to go on trips, but I can't afford to. So instead I sit here and post anonymously on ann.lu to start vicious flame wars and other crazy stuff. ;-)

What have you got against the East Coat USA???? What's this obsession with the left coast? :D

In reply to Comment 4 (T_Bone):
There's a number of reasons why so far I have preferred the West Coast over the East Coast: a few are more tangible, others less. For one, I like digital photography, and I like the national parks of the Southwest. (And more specifically, I wanted to hike Half Dome in Yosemite NP, and if nothing else fails, will do so on Saturday.) Then, my travel companion for the bigger part of this trip lives close to SF, so it seems obvious where our trip will start and end. (And I guess she's the main reason why I'm flying over so soon again.) Enough reasons? :)

Let me guess, you live and work in the US? I've only had 2 weeks off this year, but that's partly because 've only been employed a bit over a year and couldn't afford a long vacation anyway (cut one week from 5 to 4 totally), and I'll be hunting moose almost half of October :-)

Summer holidays stink, the important part of the year is October 5th through December 23rd for the moose, roe deer, hare and bird hunting (and some weekends in January-March to hunt lynx, beaver and hare :-) )

Have fun "hiking", Christian. Don't wear yourself out. ;-)

Oh, and you practically asked for this one:
She likes to take pictures, eh? *nudge nudge* SAY NO MORE!

Get the Violins ready ...

I don't know how the heck people can afford to have so many holidays abroad !!

Since I've been married (16 years) We've had TWO holidays away and they were BOTH at Cornwall (Lizard & Hayle).

Huh ...We didn't even have a Honeymoon !!

Ok ...Jealous rant over ..

Have fun Christian. As regards to Goils ... When yer marry em......

They'll Change !! Aye laddie... Whats that star on the wall? ("You made me miss, I've never missed that board before")

Oh ... Stick to the Roads .. Dont go on the moors (Beware the moon). etc

@CK

Hey enjoy your trip! You should have gone 5 weeks ago so you could have made Amiwest:-) I'd recomend you see the Golden Gate Bridge.

http://anachronismindustries.com/SF/sf3.JPG

And I agree with T-Bone you should see the east coast some time. There are some pretty interesting spots right here in Florida.

Well, aside from looking at bridges, while you're in the Bay Area check out Sunnyvale Golfland. It's a bit further south, and it's not huge and impressive like the bridges, but it's also home to the best arcade game players in the world outside Asia. If you like fighting, rhythm, or racing games, prepare to see some amazing people -- especially if you go on a crowded night.

Just be prepared to get your butt kicked -- repeatedly. :-)

Also check out Milpitas Golfland. They have some great players there...

While in San Francisco check out The Helmand -- it's a modest Afghan restaurant owned by the brother of President Karzai. Try their mixed yogurt/beef/pumpkin appetizer. It's simply incredible and likely like nothing you've ever tasted before. :-D

Also if you want to blow a big wad of money, have a nice suit, and are willing to stand in line for ages to get the seats from the few no-shows (reservations are months in advance) check out some of the great restaurants like The French Laundry, Charles of Nob Hill, and Masa's. :-)
