There are a lot of emotions involved in the last week threads. I would like people to calm down a little bit and refrain to post their feelings as news items.
I would also like people to respect more each other. We don't need the personal attacks, insults and so on.
My time to moderate is limited and if these things persist I may have to remove more posts (and to simplify the job full threads) involving trolling, flames, insults and so on.

Thank you for your understanding.

You should remove Ray A Akey as a trusted user. Ray is a very dangerous person. He is responsible for a lot of the Anonymous posts here and uses anonymous proxies to post here anonymously in support of his viewponts.

Umm... "Trusted User" only means that the person logged-in using a password and therefore the person that has posted really is "Ray Akey". It doesn't mean that the person is a moderator or anything.

Chris, perhaps the "trusted user" terminology should be changed to something like "logged in user" or "password verified user". :)

Actually I and Ian signed so you're barking at the wrong tree.

Anyway, for the sake of conversation, what would change if everybody had to register?
How long it takes to create a few accounts on different ip's using proxies.. half an hour? So the same people would still be here, just not called Anonymous.

As someone who has been accused of being an anonymizer proxy address for Gary Peake and Ray Akey I say that people like this guy being daft enough to mount a personal attack on someone should just lighten up.

Oh, and next time point out what this big "danger" is. Akey seems pretty harmless to me, perhaps
you are worried that he has a gun license or jaywalks or something?

tbh I think you're right - if people really want to post flamebait/insults etc then they will find a way to do it regardless of whether anonymous postings are allowed or not.

That said, preventing anonymous posting will probably stop a lot of people who put stupid comments in because its that easy...

Just delete whole threads of meaningless fighting if they are unmoderated and not news items. Only the 4 or 5 people posting in them to fight actually read them anyway.

A good rule to follow is not to post anything which is a critical or negative description of the character of any other poster.

Not to mention, it would be VERY easy for me to disprove his lame accusations.

However, if it entertains a few of the mindless and less creative, to read that I am an evil character responsible for world hunger and the collapse of beauty pageants worldwide, then so be it.

At least if these tossers are focusing on me, they aren't out beating up old ladies and raping cows. [M00!] :)

Why do I see people worried about Ray Akey posting as anon when there are obviously so many others doing it? As far as IP spoofing, masking, anonimizers, nothing being said really makes it worthwhile to worry about ANYWAY, and no proof any of it is Ray Akey, who seems able to speak under his own name anyway...

Cheap shots and ugliness are not uncommon from a person named Anonymous - but there are also some other posts from some other poor person who has the misfortune of having the same name that are actually pretty decent ; } Too bad it gets so confusing ; }

Put yourself in their shoes. You work for a company that for all intents and purposes, for whatever reason, has ripped them off. Your company wasn't paying employees or rent when the offer went out to customers for the purpose of "estimating demand." Your company spent the money and has less than $100 left.

You've got a reason to go on, your time is invested and probably won't be rewarded unless Amiga comes into a windfall of millions. You've got a lot invested in the company, and you made this choice. The costomers never chose to expose their money to investment risk like you have, and they are mad.

It's probably not fair the crap you're recieving, but your situation is much fairer than those who never had the choice of exposing themselves to investment risk, thinking they were simply "customers."

The difference, greenboy, is that I have the testicular fortitude to speak using my own name. I don't use proxies or post as anonymous and don't ever intend to start doing it.

However, as I said, as long as they're focused on me, someone who can take the heat, they aren't off beating on Granny Clampett or some other weak target. :)

I agree (and agreed) entirely, Ray. Some of these people must not do to well in non-internet communications if they find themselves incapable of expressing their thoughts and feelings. And given their posts here, I can see why they would be afraid to - not exactly high on the modicum of social skills that keep stabbings, fist fights, and shootings from happening ; }

Accusing Ray of using open proxies is nonsense. He wouldn't have been banned from Amiga.org if he knew how to do that. :D

The story goes that Wayne accussed Ray Akey of making a series of unpleasant
posts on Amiga.org and requested that Kees ban him. Kees did.

No one seems to have seen the posts that Wayne complained about and Ray denies

But we (Ray and I) have settled things and he is no longer banned.

I hope that we can drop this isseu now and move on.

Actually hooligan, you are both right, and wrong.

It takes not a lot of time to fool, lets just use a.org as an example...
not much time to fool them, not a lot of effort to use an anonymyzer....
you are right....

and yet its rarely done. That tiny bit of effort it happens to require is
enough to keep 95% of people from doing it.

Nevertheless, don't take that as pro-registration....hardly, if I have to register, I won't bother. Lets keep it free, and just let all the complainers know, quite clearly..that no one really cares about their itty bitty feelings...

a.org is an illusion in some ways...this, is cyberspace...its all about ideas. It doesn't matter if they come from anonymous or marktime. I like ann.lu as it is...

Since his apology was public, I have no reason to doubt his integrity. Had he not admitted his mistake, then I would consider him a person of little worth.
