- I like the small form factor.
- I wonder why there is not a PCI extension slots which would let the option to add a PCI slots daughter card for those who would may want to put it in an intermediate size case.
- Onboard video is great for really small boxes integration.
- Firewire and Digital output would be appreciated.
- Is it regular SDRAM memory ?

I would say that the big chip clearly labelled "ATi Radeon" would be something to do with an integrated ATi Radeon chipset ;) Just a guess, of course...

I generally put the motherboard inside a case, and don't spend a lot of time
admiring its artistic beauty....however, its a fine looking slab of silicon.

Looks very cool. Now all we need is a cool Amiga 1200/500 style integrated case.

I think Amiga Inc. need to think about their numbering system. It would be nice if the model names continued from where they left off.

Looks much better. Now, what will be out first, this one or the Peg2?

Lack of AGP and some other stuff is a drawback I guess, but
it's slightly smaller and that will be attractive for some. But of
course, price is a major issue too.

Looks nice! The MiniITX form factor is very interesting IMO. Allthough it's not very expandable, it's kind of suitable for some purposes. I have two VIA Epia mobo's in that form factor. I wonder what the Price will be for the A1 lite? It will probably be a lot lower than the A1 XE, but it will most definitely be a lot more than the Epias though ...

But why are they still using the Articia S instead of the Articia Sa? Perhaps the pictures are of an early prototype?

There are a lot of "numbers" Amiga Inc needs to think about, many of them with the prefix "$" ...

Anyway, regarding numbering system of the "Amiga" computers, I recall that it was said (by Fleecy?) a long time ago that they would only be called "Amiga One", other versions/configurations would still have the "Amiga One" name, not "Amiga Two" or similar ...

My impression is partially negative (IMHO).

And my toughts wonder If at Amiga Inc. they had payed for it, instead of developing AmigaOS 4.0, then they have *REALLY* wasted their money!

AmigaOS 4.0, must have precedence on ANY other project, included MINI-ATX MoBos.

But if at Eyetech they have realized it without affecting AINC balance funds then I will not complain anymore.

I think they (Eyetech) are going to use the Artica Sa or P in a uppdated
A1 (ATX formfactor) to create a good differentiation between there products.
So that Eyetech gets something in the lines of.

A1 lite = Entry model
A1 = Big box model

And btw, this is all guesswork of course.

I wonder, is this mini DIN connector (underneath the red paralel port connector) S-VIDEO out? I guess so which is really cool.
I hope they upgraded to USB2.0.
Seems that they still use the VIA 686B as a southbridge.
The only thing that's missing is an RS232 port......
I wonder what Radeon they use....

Amiga Inc are not paying anything at all toward the development of the AmigaOne hardware, except perhaps for the cost of the odd phone call.

Where have you been? Hyperion are funding the AOS4 project, with a lot of help from volunteer coders, and MAI and Eyetech are funding the hardware. Amiga Inc are funding the DE stuff. The PPC projects may one day bring in some license fees, but cost AInc nothing.

If Amiga Inc find any money, it will go towards debts and making DE game packs.

The new AmigaOne lite looks cool,

way add old standards like parallel port and serial ports, they are hardly used any more, new products should not base it self on out dated standards

It definitely seems to be made by MAI. Remember the ATIO Hoax, where a MicroATX A1 was "announced"?

300 dollars is the max the general market would stand on a product like this.

Memory, Sinlge SO-DIMM slot (laptop-type memory)
Onboard Paralle, game, Audio (no serial?)
Onboard USB and Ethernet.
One PCI slot, Two ide slots (4 devices max)

Open questions.. ..

Where is Radeon's memory .. if it's underside, ok, if it uses shared
memory trough Articis-S then definitely not ok.

Pricing, availability. Yep, even I could find use to this if price
were more in line with normal levels.

No, my friend, that is exactly my point.
With all due respect, there is a market outside of Amigadom, one
that won't pay amigadom prices.

if they can't price it competitively, then they won't be competitive.

It's not about love. I would 'love' for them to be free.
But what they must be, is priced around 300 or less or they can expect
to sell almost none of them. Price is important.

Amiga die-hards may pay 500-600 but after that market dries up, they
can either stop selling them, or drop the price, and if they can't drop the
price, they might as well just drop their plans, because the market IS
price conscious.

what is REALISTIC to the manufacturer, Mai and the seller eyetech, is different from what is REALISTIC to the BUYER.

Don't forget, unless you are some kind of Eyetech plan, you are the BUYER
you are not the SELLER.

as a buyer, you have a choice, an epia motherboard for $200 tops, or less.
Or this board. One is Intel based, one is a PowerPC design.

Of course, a select few of us, myself included, will pay a premium for PowerPC...but wouldn't you agree, that none of us will pay, say 10,000 dollars for a G3 motherboard...good, then you agree there is an upper limit to the premium we will pay. (OK just slap me right now for this method of making a point, what can I say, its late)

I suggest, that paying a $400 dollar premium (taking your $600 price and comparing it to my $200 price), which is alse 3 TIMES the amount.....
is way, way too much, and way out of line...

its a premium that is too high, and the market will balk.

now at $300...that is a $100 premium over the EPIA, or 50%, and its pricey, but the market will accept that, especially with the Radeon built in...its a good video to build in....

could someone make the argument for $400....errrrr I think its too high, but maybe, its stretching the imagination though.

there is nothing 'realistic' about 500 or 600 dollars though, outside the fact that the most ardent of amiga supporters have proven to me that they will spend just about any amount.....but I think eyetech is aiming beyond that market...time will tell.
