Looking at the magazine logo on amiga.org, it reminds me a lot of the old CU Amiga logo :) |

Posted by Don Cox on 22-Sep-2003 12:14 GMT | Good plan. I hope it succeeds, and you can keep a good balance of articles for Amiga "classic", AmigaOne and Pegasos.
Where is it based? US or Europe?
It will be nice to have two Amiga print magazines again. |

Posted by bbrv on 22-Sep-2003 12:19 GMT | It would be great if there was finally one place that all the Community could get along together.
The PegPong thread here this weekend is an example of what is possible and we hope the amiga.org magazine will usher in a new future for the community.
Good work Kees!

My loft is filled with magazines, you can barely move around up there, so
a dedicated website and the possibility to download magazine as pdf would
be great.
This is the digital age, saving the environment isnt a bad thing :) |

Posted by Mikey C on 22-Sep-2003 13:55 GMT | In reply to Comment 24 (Andrew Korn): It doesn`t leave Total Amiga Magazine in any sort of situation whatso ever.
AmigaFormat, AmigaActive, AmigaShopper could come back tomorrow and it wouldn`t affect us at all. (Unless we lost all out readers and I have too much confidence in the quality, knowledge and passion of every article, to worry about that)
Remember Quality rises to the top. I have yet to see anyone being negative about Total Amiga Magazine. It`s written by unpaid volunteers, produced by unpaid volunteers and sold at cost. Total Amiga Magazine is non profit making.
It makes me laugh thou, reading posts on here and elsewhare from people pretending that they haven`t heard of Total Amiga Magazine before and that Amiga.org magazine is the first magazine in a long while.
All the best to Amiga.org Magazine
I`m confident, that the people who write for Total Amiga Magazine, will carry it through to the long term.

Posted by Bill Hoggett on 22-Sep-2003 14:36 GMT | In reply to Comment 26 (Mikey C): There is room for two magazines, since the target audience is dedicated to following the Amiga scene anyway.
As far as I know, there's nothing stopping anyone from contributing to both magazines if they choose to do so. Conversely, it's good to read more than one review on any one product, as there is less chance of the impression gained being influenced by the personal preference of the writer.
Total Amiga is an excellent magazine and is continuing to improve. If Amiga.org Magazine will manage to provide friendly competition then it can only be a good thing for both magazines and the readership as a whole.
I have no idea who will be sponsoring or advertising in the new magazine, but it is to be hoped that the editorial content will not be influenced by advertising revenue. Total Amiga manages to do this well enough, so there's no reason to assume Amiga.org Magazine will be any different. |

Total Amiga is a GREAT magazine! Robert does a fantastic job. We have committed to a large ad in the next issue to be published (#16). Please do not think *we* have suggested any differently. We understand Kees is trying to broaden the potential audience to other communities -- not just CBM "Amiga" derivatives and maybe to other PowerPC oriented Alternate OS solutions.
We think it is a great idea! A rising tide lifts all boats!

CU Amiga was similar in that the CU was tiny and the Amiga was big. What's the problem? Most Amiga magazines had Amiga in the title anyway and most Amiga sites use Amiga in the title.

Ah, look who is talking about having agendas! Why are you at Amiga Incorporated so afraid of free speech? Why is everything that is not under your control at amigaworld.net automaticly biased and untrue? You know some years ago there were many Amiga magazines that did not stand under Commodores control, they were free speach, and it worked perfectly ok. But this "mother company" is so different in so many ways!
Well, at least Commodore made a footprint in history before it went bust ...
(Perhaps you could make a difference in a /constructive/ way, by purchasing some ads in that new magazine? Perhaps a whole page in every issue? That way you are in control over at least that page, and you will at least have made /some/ footprints that will be seen in some years from now) |

Posted by Atheist2 on 22-Sep-2003 21:26 GMT | I am not against the idea of this magazine. It is a GREAT idea, BUT:
What will happen when Mr. Bill Buck tries to run a centerfold ad that states, "PegaSOS; Now running AOS4.0!!"
Also, any chance of having a cover CD? Any point to having one?
Also, many years ago, there was a magazine (.info) that PROUDLY TRUMPETED that it was entirely produced on Amigas (except for some ads).
With our new found power, to ME, it is unacceptatble that an Amiga (and derivatives) magazine be done with ANY OTHER computer!!!!!
Acceptable = AmigaOne, PegaSOS, Amigas, Draco, Amiga Forever, AROS, Amithlon, AmigaXL.
AmigaOne! Amiga - initial thesaurus entry - dilemma! |
