Getting Amiga mentioned on slashdot is a waste of time. "the Amiga was great for its time, but please let it die" and so on. Why? Why let something die if it can be an alternative to Linux/Windows/MacOS? What the fuck are those Linux-fanatics so afraid of? I would think anyone who is geek enough to visit slashdot on a regular basis would understand the need to play with geeky toys like an AmigaOne? No?

Yup, totally agree. Its a crying shame as /. geeks don't seem to get the Amiga any more than joe public which seems strange and kinda heart breaking.

I think its real products that need to do the talking, OS4, A1 (not forgetting the rest..). Maybe once the A1 Lite is out some of 'em may buy them for Linux as there were some positive comments based around that.

Also seeing the MOS/AOS wars taken on there just makes sick as there were enuff negative comments without users from the community fueling it too.

Bah, well i'm still interested in a niche market and nice machine just to bad fellow geeks aren't even willing to let it co-exist it seems.

Who cares? From now they have to deal with it, whatever they want it or not...

...and I am positive regarding new generations. Let's teach them what an Amiga is, and they could consider it enough cool to being convinced to embrace also our platform...

You need to remember that teh vast majority of slashdot "readers" are extreme Linux zealots - if it is not Linux then they do not want to know about it and they condemn it out-of-hand.

Just ignore the predictable responses of the Slashdot weenies on there, and be safe in the knowledge that the less zealous readers do take note of new info posted and are not all frothing Linux zealots of the kind who post the usual crap comments.

IMO the "A1 Lite" is the first 'future product' from that branch of the Amiga tree that looks really interesting!

But I wonder what chipset will be used. It must surely be something else than ArticiaS, which will be a little weak for the massive data shoveling that Gigabit Ethernet, Raid, etc will require at full throttle. The price is also a BIIIG questionmark. It will never sell outside this little community if the price tag is similar to the A1 XE ...

Downix, don't you have WORK to do, as opposed to spreading your usual anti AmigaONE bullshit on the slashdot thread?

What on earth does BBRV pay you for?

That's rather obvious, isn't it? Where the money comes from is a bit of a question, though ;-)

I see that your comment is directed towards Comment 14, but that doesn't make sense, since *I* wrote that comment. In fact, I don't see a single comment from Downix in this whole thread? Perhaps you mixed up some names when you wrote your post?

By the way, I don't understand how you can make "anti AmigaONE bullshit" out of the thing I wrote (here, I never ever even *read* slash dot)? I wrote: "IMO the "A1 Lite" is the first 'future product' from that branch of the Amiga tree that looks really interesting!".

I don't know about Downix, but *I* am not on Genesi's payroll. I even paid *the full original* BT2 price for my first Pegasos (April1) in last December, no discount. For my second Pegasos (April2) I paid the "join Phoenix" price, like so many else. I will use the trade-in offer to get a Pegasos II G4, and so will many else, no special deal. I am not bribed, payed or have any exclusive benefits whatsoever, I have no strings attached to anyone in this community!
