New CAM article : Comment 4 of 16 | ANN.lu |
Posted by MarkTime on 01-Oct-2003 11:35 GMT | I've said it before, I'll say it again.
This stick-to-it-iveness they are displaying with a regular on-line magazine release to club members, and the subsequent regular articles released to the public, shows that they can actually do something.
I didn't read it, I'll catch up on these articles if and when OS 4 is released. |

New CAM article : Comment 6 of 16 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Kjetil on 01-Oct-2003 11:55 GMT | In reply to Comment 4 (MarkTime): Looked throw the CAM, the datatype article is about what new datatypes that are supported, and some abut the history of the OS, in respect to the datatype system,
I think is cut that article short:
Perversity PNG and JPEG images where CPU intensive on slow CPU’s but now they do not effect the CPU that match on new CPU’s with better performance.
Peevishly there where many images types like BMP, TIF and PNG not supported they are now a part of the new OS (no more 3rd party data types), the new data types are based on WarpDT (data types), only they have removed the 68k/ppc switching code, so they should perform faster the original, plus new API is faster as well,
And as side note: The new AmigaOS4.0 uses data types more the then the old AmigaOS3.x |

Positive :) I personally have no access to it, so I can't comment it. |

No access? it's open to the public... you can read it, but it does not contain anything interesting.
If you know what a dataype is, and when you need them, don't bother reading it.
Last months CAM was much more interesting. |

Sorry, my mistake. Thought the thread is about the CAM, and not the actual article. |

New CAM article : Comment 14 of 16 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Hagge on 01-Oct-2003 17:52 GMT | awww, where is IFF 2004 datatype? And Anim42? And protracker 15 modules? :/
Where are all the creativity? "Our os can handle png images now", wow, everyone will be so amazed and impressed. (thought not even microsoft can do that, or well, they don't get the correct colors in internet explorer anyway =P).
This isn't one of my complains about amiga inc though, and not on anyone else either. I just think it would be so much cooler with some fresh inventions than trying to get an old outdated os almost up to date.. |

New CAM article : Comment 15 of 16 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 02-Oct-2003 04:51 GMT | In reply to Comment 14 (Hagge): Uh, hello? the original OS3.0 came with a pitiful few datatypes, and other people wrote the rest. What's there to prevent people from writing more datatypes?
Lazy people - you expect the OS to bring everything, it's your fault that MSIE won over Netscape. |
