Scavenged from the photo gallery of a visitor to VCF 6.0 (/.'d, etc.), here's Lorraine ... and a side of her we haven't seen before? A flip through the exhibitors list shows Dale Luck is to thank.

Cool. Lorraine :)

"I. 1982-83

In the beginning came the development team
with a 16-bit games console to beat the best.
It was Miner, Mical, Sassenrath and Morse
whose Destiny would be Manifest.

Producing things like the JoyBoard and games
in almost Zen-like meditation
While "Lorraine" was quietly worked upon
To be the Spanish 'girlfriend' of each nation.

Yes, a codename tactic, to prevent against theft
was essential to the project, so the secrecy swirled!
As developments grew, so did the Code
With new names for the pieces of "Lorraine" unfurled.

For, in true Custom, the chips built and named
Fang was Agnus before she grew Fat
(And, yes, a Fatter lady did sing
but it was Agnus, Portia and Daphne who first did that).

For the CPU: a Motorola--
A 68000 at 16-bit.
In 1982, it was the best that they could find,
And by '83 they made it fit.

Mical wanted games, but Jay Miner wanted slots;
Yet R.J.'s Intuition kept them on the right track.
Using Nicholson's blitter and Miner's HAM
the future of Amiga wouldn't lack."

I knew I forgot someone. Dale Luck. I'll have to add him into version 2.0.

And what do you mean by 'light in the loafers'? Gay? (yes I am). Crazy? (no I'm not) Mentally deficient? (hardly) :)

So Dale Luck still has one of the Lorraine machines?!?!

One can only hope A.ORG will get an interview with him.

Talking with Joe Torre, the scariest part about Lorraine is that...

IT STILL WORKS

that is what Joe said. Likely won't run anything beyond a pre-alpha version of AmigaOS however.

HE. :-)

The poem stands at 24-pages right now. Version 1.0. Covers the beginning through Jim Collas' exit.

Uuh.. Works..

Anyhow.. compared to what people do these days.. Agnus has been of 8
boards full of ttl chips wrapped together... No wonder it was a bit
shaky when they did first versions of OS and first public demos. No
wonder they need to book it a own seat on Plane .. (Joe Pillow story)

I wouldn't use it as a primary computer. But the fact that it still can boot up is amazing, due to the age of that machine and how fragile it was.

I'm pretty sure those wirewraps are dead now. They are almost 20 years old. At the last VCF Dave Needle brough in Jay's A1000, serial number 000000000001. We got it booting and I grabed the boing demo from aminet and left it running during the show. It was pretty impressive to watch.

So what exactly is that Plexiglass box? A thermal evaluation mockup?

I spy with my little eye something begining with "A", peaking out from under a table... Clue; it's not not Amiga or Apple...

The show ended today with the awarding of prize ribbons. This year I won the special category for "Best Presentation of Creative Integration", got me a blue ribbon with a big "1st Place" :)

I was showing my Amiga 4000 with CSPPC/CVPPC/Highway/X-Surf/Delfine. I guess the 24 bit workbench running on my LCD display impressed the judges ;)

I actually have that little red&black joystick they show in the photo. It is an original Amiga Technologies joystick that I used for my old Atari 2600 and C64.
