"online"

Well, It's not like hard to sponsor an *online* magazine .. It's not like they're going to turn down some free cash is it?

Eh?
How on Earth can you try and make the sponsoring of a web site into something negative?

Look on a brighter site though, at least Genesi has not been kicked out of their offices and have certainly not stolen from Amiga users, maybe stealing from Amiga users is more of a priority than a company what is active in this community.

Good work Genesi.

True. No pointless courtcases. Only one with a good point, hopefully to put AI out of it's misery :)

Seriously, it's a good move.. gets attention not only from that specific Linux site, but probably word is spreading elsewhere aswell. Also opens doors for special deals, promotion campaigns etc.

I don't read german but even I can click on links enough and otherwise access information related and relavant to the birthdate and traffic since, of this site.

I recall Amiga did something similiar regarding devicetop.com or some such.

Genesi does in fact take feedback from teh community and tries to convert that into an aura extending beyond where Genesi really is. Part of how they do that is thru creating/fabricating stronger associations that what is real.

It's called marketing I suppose, the act of making claims that in doing so hopefully actually create or generate the support the claim made, after the fact of the claim being made.

Microsoft does it all the time and often fails, but often enough succeeds and that the practice is cheap enough to mathmatically show an overall success rate.

for those who don't get my last post, in simplicity:

fabricate an illusion with the hope of generating enough interest and following to turn the illusion into something more real.

Within this particular illusion is a responce given to teh public question regarding Genesis history. The answer is given in a disconnected (from the open forums where the question was asked in so many ways), non-forum manner presented by an online magizine (with actually little history and little traffic) to give the impression of .......

Well ask those who are impressed and think it brilliant... etc...

I do recognize this skill comming from Genesi to be that of Bill Buck, or at least very consistant with his.

The biggest question I have for Genesi is: Did you or are you really going for an IPO?

(from my perspective and experienced gained knowledge, this question is very much relavant to the marketing method possibilities. Where IPO makes it either impossible or very difficult for some newer business models to be implimented.)

I think he meant that sponsoring online magazine is not same as sponsoring printed magazine. You really don't need to spend lot's of money when you are sponsoring a website.

Misery - I grant you that, its certainly not great is it?!

But is the point really to try and drive them into bankrupcy? They seemed to do quite a good job of that on their own, but kicking them when they are down is just mean! :)

Someone once said businesswise, for Genesi, it might only do good to get rid off AI. I myself can't think of why.

Probably would mean a loss of a few perhaps potential customers.. nothing radical though, I'd imagine the ones who have decided to follow the Amiga's path would make them not to touch Pegasos anyway. A bit bad PR for Genesi and some sympathy for AI at most?

Competitionwise.. wouldn't do much difference I think. OS4 would still be released and A1's shipping.

What I wrote was just my humble opinion, in a harsh "tonque in cheek"-mode.
Anyway it goes, in the end, Genesi is just losing lots of money.. for lawyerfees, with very little to gain.

On the other hand, there might be still something we do not know.. some rational reason to drive the lawsuit.

@Bill

The best thing you can do to get the respect you deserve is to rip off Amiga users, just look how much con artists have come and gone (excluding AInc) and still get nothing but praise for a job (scam) well done.

Like someone else said "The more you steal from Amiga users the better respect your company gets".
