Dvdrtools is a full complete burn dvd-r/rw for amiga and pegasos system dvdrtools is a package with four programs which were originally developped for Linux, but now are ported to AmigaOS. All of the programs are shell-based, only for the main program dvdrecord an Arexx-GUI is available. The programs themselves are completely in English. Isn't the sizelimit of AOS around 2gb or so, or do I recall wrong?
Was wondering how it has been made to burn >2gb images...

Don't have a dvd-burner either so.. :)

the size limit is removed with AmigaOS3.5 AmigaOS3.9,

and I belive the limit where about 4GB,
scsi.device (ide) + hdtoolbox,

belive it has somting to do whit negative values!

the size limit in old version of MSDOS MBR block is 2GB i think.

Talking of files here. In theory AmigaDOS can handle file sizes up to 4GB - 1 byte, but filesystem can go nuts with anything larger than 2GB.

The reason I expect it to be - not having actually bothered to research it, I don't know for sure - is that dos.library returns -1 for errors on filesizes and so on, or allows negative seeking (i.e. relative backwards) in files.

As such, you can only really use signed integers, and hence 2GB maximum,
safely.

A suite of 64-bit capable functions is all that's needed (like TD64 is just
64-bit supplements to the original command set). But that's more difficult to
organise than it sounds (imagine mixing the command sets :)

The only thing that goes nuts above 4GB is seeking. reading/writing will still work. AFAIK.
So in this application it might be something that would "just work". If taken into consideration. I dunno.

A little pang of doubt - when I retired my A1200, disk drives bigger than 1GB weren't really a concern since I couldn't afford one! But, if I buy an A1, will AmigaOS4 be able to handle 20, 40 + GB drives?

Even classic Amigas can handle those :) If you have AmigaOS 3.5, AmigaOS3.9 and/or filesystems like PFS3 or SFS, then harddrive sizelimit is 2TB (2 Terabytes). If you use PFS3-filesystem then even older AmigaOS versions can use big drives. I have 10GB IBM harddrive and I'm planning to buy much bigger.

So harddrive sizelimits are not any problem, maximum filesize is bigger problem.

I don't recall AOS3.x having a 64 bit *filesystem* API. You are thinking of 64 bit access to devices.

This is all due to the clumsiness of dos.library and the underlying filesystem interface, and the fact that files are treated differently than devices.
