KaZaa is dead. Are you people seriously living in the past or something ? Today it's overnet, edonkey, bittorent and still gnutella what matters. Throw an eye on MLDonkey or Overnet.

KaZaa can't be beat for downloading mp3's. Overnet or bittorrent? get real. maybe for an ISO, but a 3mb mp3?

Hang on, is this the multi-p2p client that was mentioned on amiga.org forums a few months ago? It looks like it supports more than one p2p standard according that screenshot.

Yes. DC is a nice tool too. However, anyone been to Chaozers homepage recently?
Noticed one of his projects called Hamster? It is a VERY advanced DC/EMule plugin based client. So adding support for other networks shouldnt be hard.
He has quite a lot of nice stuff going on. Visual Boy Advance will hopefully get released at the same time as the next WarpSDL release! He told me that WarpSDL now supports almost everything that SDL supports. =)

Uhm Uhm Uhm! =) Guess who is gonna try to port SDL demos such as Jormas Hätä
to WarpSDL/PPC?

Nice work.

nah! this isnt a port of Kazaa.

its a port of GiFT (http://gift.sourceforge.net )
which is an ongoing project to make a very sleek P2P network...which
also taks FastTrack. if they can add in the other networks (eDonkey..specially!
and OverNet...maybe even let it talk BitTorrent) then this is all good news
for those who dabble in this sort of thing.

...err, not sure what your exact issue is.

certainly dont see such comments when latest CDWriting or DVD writing
software is released. isnt that just about as harmful? hey?

If people USE the software for illegal purposes, then its not the authors fault!
I used to use DiskCopyPro etc etc for backing up my game floppies (Oceans duplication plant was atrocious during one bad year!) not for making illegal copies for others.

as for filesharing Amiga stuff. Well, I'm afraid that just loading up eMule
on a WinPC and typing 'Amiga' in the search bar will be a real eye-opener for some folks. yes. all the ROMS, OS's , games and apps that any pirate woudl ever wish for.

for those that use it legally, all the best scene demos and mods packaged nicely
for those into such things! :-)

tried it, very decieved, i will never come close to audiogalaxy
i could only find some commercial music
if you dont listen to what already fill your tv or your radio, you
wont find anything interesting in it

please not that i dont criticize amigift himself, the prog is very
well done : no hits at all, didnt manage to freeze it

/me waiting for a new protocol support because this one is already
dead

In reply to Comment 30 (Alan LM Buxey):
The issue, Alan, is that whilst DVD and CD writers are primarily designed for legitimate uses, Kazza et al are designed to facilitate the sharing of illegal copies of works, be they software or mp3s of DVD-rips et al.

THAT is the main difference - this is a port of a tool specifically designed to make it easy to share illegal material with impunity.

If your reason would be that you are eg. unemployd and you don't have more money than what you can spend on food and rent, and if you sincerely think that you will start buying software when you get work and money, then I might understand you.

But because your reason is "why pay for software on a old platform."
I really don't understand you, and i don't understand why you are here :P

If your opinion is that, then: if you don't buy it you will not use it.

Computer users and computer magazines are schizophrenic: each evening, a few million people "share" software but when a company like Microsoft has had enough of that and introduces a copy protection scheme that ties software to hardware to battle "sharing" (stealing), you hear a collective revolt: they are punishing the wrong people, they are punishing the honest users. The same magazines run articles on how to steal software more effectively.

All those people desperately arguing about piracy, killing the amiga, cancer and whatever, its always the same. Some of you overheard the shot, years ago.

-there is hardly any market anymore
-most software isnt available anymore or just outdated by several years
-piracy is what made the amiga known and great once
-same goes for the C64
-same goes for the PC on the games part
-piracy wasnt the main reason that killed the amiga, bullshit, it was mismanagement on commodores part, no ergonomic monitors, no office apps, so windows took that place in a rush 1989-1993, no proper modular design for graphics cards, sound, IO, something like (Zorro4,5,6), aging processors,
less and less bang for the buck, software- and hardwarewise
-search at emule and you find nothing but roms and games that you cant buy anymore or that are so old you dont see a reason to pay for
-ridiculous, its like demanding you had to pay for atari console games, or c64 games, an era thats long gone
-the PC has been the main gaming and app machine for years now, and surprise, in spite of heavy copying its still alive. Dont say "they go console", no, guess why they do, developing for consoles is easier, faster, cheaper than for PC with thousands of possible consigurations and setups
-piracy is sort of natural, if we were all rich, we all would pay for anything
-making a copy doesnt mean instead an original would have been purchased, thats a stupid lie
-computers create need and demand for bytes, and new bytes, and more of that than anyone can afford

YES, I surely vote for nothing but piracy on this planet hereby. It cant mean anything else. So go on and rant and shout and cough and finally hopefully die from your own narrowmindedness, thank you.

It is? I have noticed that sales of my software went up considerably after introducing solid copy protection. Since then, it has not been hacked again (that was however some years ago, at his moment it's nearly impossible to sell Amiga software, regardless of the piracy issue).
