At the upcoming OASE show in Graz, Austria, Genesi will be represented by their betatester Herbert Klackl. According to Jürgen Schober, two Pegasos I computers with MorphOS will be shown.

Ya, but they should have boards done by now...maybe they are working on getting morphos working on it? I am sure there is some work to be done in that regard.

What would you do? I would make five or ten boards first, then test them very thoroughly before making any more. If a problem comes up (highly likely on new production) it could take a week or two to fix.

Each board made costs money. You can't re-use most of the components, so you don't want to make any more dud boards than you can avoid. Three would be plenty.

The release date originally announced for the Peg II was optimistic, IMO.

Naah, it's more fun to produce 600 of them and then discover a chipset problem. You can then shoot your mouth off about the company who makes the chipset, then produce a hack'n'patch fix which you then give a snappy name, like maybe "necessity" and you can have a cool catchfrase like "there's no discovery without necessity". Once the chipset manufacturer gets pissed off at you for calling them names in public, you can say how good your engineers are by comparison and how crap this chipset is and how misled you were, and then look for another sucke^H^H^H^H^Hchipset partner.

In the meantime you can get your stranded userbase to play peg-pong on their AGPx1 dinosaurs, while you make inflated claims about the Peg ]|[

It really makes me laugh how people who are so quick to shoot down the Pegasos 1 and 2 are too daft to go looking at unbiased (ie non-Amiga related) evaluations of the Arctica chipset. I myself have read several evaluations (mostly of the Teron board being used with Linux in the server market), and I havent read many positive comments about it.

As for the whole AGP 1x thing - how many times does it need to be voiced ? There is very little loss in practical performance by only running AGP at 1x speed. As long as it's an AGP 2.0 compliant slot (and it wouldn't work with any graphics card available for sale today if it weren't) then that's fine. The Arctica's AGP performance is poor at either 1x or 2x speed anyway.
