I just heard from Doug Moir of Anything Amiga, that photos from the Sydney RoadShow of October 11th are now up at OS4 RoadShow Downunder See the FIRST showing of the A1-Lite motherboard at an AmigaOS4 RoadShow! See some of the developers who have worked towards having Debian/GNU Linux, MOL, and NOW have been able to show the near-end result! AmigaOS4.0-beta + some applications running on the A1XE!

Damn, if that AmigaOne lite will be able to run almost all 68k Workbench apps in Os4.0 I might be tempted to get one (if the price is right to).

Hopefully there will be a classic Amiga emu better than WinUAE for it to (not that WinUAE is bad).

It will run only those programs that currently work with graphics cards and sound cards. AGA-only programs will not run.

That still gives you a good selection but (unless a version of UAE is incorporated later) there will be some frustrating omissions.

In reply to Comment 2 (erkan):
Both AmigaOS4 on Amigaone and MorphOS on Pegasos run only systemfriendly software which does not need classic Amiga customchipset. So OCS/ECS or AGA software and games will not run. Systemfriendly software which does not require customchipset and which works with graphicscards and soundcards, should work just fine.

There is m68k emulation layer embedded in the OS so if you want to run systemfriendly software then you don't need UAE or any emulation like that. It's possible and quite likely that UAE will be ported to OS4 sooner or later.

Returning former users particularly, but also anyone wanting to use ProDraw, Music-X, Brilliance, DPaint, Scala, Pixel3D (almost works on RTG), and of course almost all games.

Have you not mentioned that there is going to be a new Amiga and got an answer like "Great, I would love to play Zool again" ?

Come on people -- let's not argu!?!

I, for I, having attended the Brisbane RoadShow held on the 18th, am now in a mood such as I havn't felt for -what?- NINE years now! Having seen an early port of AmigaOS4 running on the AmigaOneXE; having seen various demos up & running on it!
And even seeing the GrimReeper (Guru replacement) and RoadShow (the TCP/IP stack) up, and having it explained how well all components behave.

The demonstrater explained that WordWorth7 runs superior on OS4, as compared to its behaviour on OS3.5/3.9!!

We don't even have the hold-ups in XE Hardware any longer!!

Just think -- not so much longer and we won't have any need to feel ashamed that our HARDWARE, and OS, are nearly a DECADE (or more) in age!!!!
NOW, if we could just get iTunes for AmigaOS4!?!

> ProDraw, Music-X, Brilliance, DPaint, Scala, Pixel3D I have to admit never heard of Pixel3D, ProDraw or Music-X. DPaint is familiar from A500 days and Scala... I think Scala was popular once. > Have you not mentioned that there is going to be a new Amiga and> got an answer like "Great, I would love to play Zool again" ? I doubt anyone is willing to pay 300 - 700 euro for PPC motherboard when you can download UAE for free. Or buy A500 for 5e. What ever, those old Amiga users are not coming back.

You mean those who did only play games, maybe. But there is lot's of ex-amigans who left just because there were no new hardware. Atleast some of those might come back. I personnally know couple of those guys who are thinking about coming back..

Why isn't there a side by side board pic?
I left the Amiga some years ago, and if the situation turns up well, I might return, had enough of windows, just today I've received more than 10 infected e-mails, I know this has nothing to do with windows, but...

Excellent report, good pictures, and funny commentary...very refreshing...

Did they show any other classic apps running on AOS4 emulation side, such as
Pagestream, or ImageFX, Lightwave, Final Copy, scanner software, printer drivers, Ibrowse, spreadsheets, Audiolabs software? I would like to see those running under emulation...especially in full amiga multitasking mode, while running something under Linux, and running something under MacOS...now that
would be pretty cooooooollll....

Now that we've seen pictures of both sides of the board, where's the alleged flashmem slot? how about firewire? I've been staring at the pictures for about 10 minutes, and I can't see any of those. I'm starting to have my doubts about the IDE raid and gigabit ethernet too.

Hold on to see if the Brisbane photos are posted up!

The size difference is like holding a 45 Single beside a 33 1/3 LP vinyl! Eyeball the PCA/Riser slot, and see how far across the board it extends.

or - notice that Doug holds it between his thumb & fore-finger! I can barely hold a bread-n-butter plate that way!!

So, YOU'RE one of those ppl who expects to see EVERY feature present (& functional) on a pre-productional prototype? You have really HIGH expectations!!

I'll bet on a cloudy morning you complain, to all and sundry, "Hey! I can't see the sun! What's happened to the sun?" :-)

I'm just sick and tired of everyone promising the moon, and when the chips are down all you have is some smelly green cheese :)

Look at buckyboy, his peg2 was going to be the hottest thing since sliced cheese and its just another mediocre board that cant even handle AGPx2. The all-knowing mr redhouse said all sorts of things about how cool this board was going to be (read the mag, it's actually not too bad), and then it turns up to be what we all expected, just a smaller version of the XE. Where exactly are all these things going to fit? there isnt exactly a lot of room in that little board you know :)

You can call me a green troll, or just call it cronic exaustion due to have been bull$#1tted one too many times (by BOTH sides) :(

AFAIK there is currently no way to run AmigaOS or MorphOS and Linux simultaneously. You have to reboot.

However it is probably technically possible and it would be a Good Thing. Linux only needs one public screen.

Use UAE. Crippling modern Amiga software and hardware to run obsolete old games is both impossible and pointless.

The fun thing is the Pegasos is only 2mm bigger than AmigaOne Lite - the rest are all slots.
