You are JUST NOW sticking your toes in what has been an established standard on other platforms.
How does it feel waking up and realizing it is the 21st Century?

Your comments are quite agressive and not polite in any respect. Maybe you could tell us little bit about yourself... what you do, what your profession is and further on...
I have been working alot in Windows environment regarding Video and 3D production, and many times I have thought: "Why the hell wasn´t AmigaOS avaliable on the x86 platform 10 years ago". Windows is far from flawless, and when it comes to utilizing the real power of the hardware at my hand, it comes to my mind that Windows is not good at all. Still, I need to use iit because the tools I need are, in some respect, only avaliable on the Windows platform.
Now, think for some time on this. When Videoplayers were going to the commercial market they went for the VHS-standard. VHS was far from the best solution in the market at that time. VHS won because it was cheap, and just because something is "standard" it doesn´t mean that it is the best thing to use.
People using Amigas today are mostly doing it because the fun and joy of running an OS which is fast and responsitive, considering the hardware it runs on. Even if people don´t know what "NRG" is, that doesn´t mean they havn´t used a PC...the fact is that there are other CD-rom authoring software for the Windows platform, such as Easy CD Creator.
I dont feel excited when I read that I can now convert a Nero imagefile to ISO on the Amiga, I rather say: Hey, that´s cool..."
As far as I know, Amigas have been able to burn and authorize CD:s as long as CD-burners have been avaliable to the commercial market. There are even DVD-burning programs for Amigas.....
So.. straighten up your facts little more before you open your mouth..
Have a good day... |

Posted by Anonymous on 10-Nov-2003 13:09 GMT | In reply to Comment 11 (Mikael Burman): I am an Amiga user. My A4000 is even integrated within my Windows Environment.
I have total respect for what Commodore did. What exists today in not even a glimmer of what Commodore had, therefore I am not excited. It has no market other than nostalgia nor is the operating systems OS4 or MorphOS close to being what today's standards expect. Jay Miner is rolling in his grave for sure. As for what I do as a profession, I am a desktop support manager for a brokerage firm. I am well versed in M$ due to my responsibilities. If you can not find the power of Windows XP, then may I suggest you get your MCSE. I know alot of what's going on in Amigaland.. therefore I do have the facts and these are my opinions, therefore my mouth has the right to open as this is what this forum is for. |
