Gary Colville (one of the new Amithlon Kernel developpers) has made a new Amithlon Kernel available for PC Amigans.

New chipsets VT8233 / VT8235 support and GForce4 support.
Gary Colville. IDE code tweeked to handle multi-word DMA modes more reliably on the VT8233 and VT8235 chipsets.

this new kernel support currently all GeForce4.
Support for AthlonXP/Duron processors and Pentium Processors.

a little tool : PCILIST is also available (improved version of PCISCAN by Bernie Meyer).
It displays both the names and PCI ID/Vendor codes of any hardware in your Amithlon system.

Haven't really touched Amithlon lately, it's still set up but I just havent had the heart to use it knowing there's an Umilator shelved somewhere.

If ever there's a Time machine developed, this is one of the historical disturbances that needs correcting :)

I would say that I don't know what could bring Umilator to me that I don't have actually on my Amithlon machine.

Every people that came to the Alchimie III this week-end was able to see the extended possibilities of Amithlon (and even further since the release of ArakAttack providing the possibility to use PC USB ports).

Anyway, I support entirely Gary in his goal to compile new kernel supporting more and more hardware.

I never tried Amithlon. But the work Gary is doing seems excellent indeed, and deserves some high praise.

Sorry, I did not catch the pun :(

Anyway, yes, you have now the possibility to use PC USB port with Amithlon.

Yes, on the surface Amithlon now has all major qualities of Umilator:

- NIC driver: uses Linux drivers
- AHI driver: uses Linux drivers
all thanks to Bernie.

and, USB support is there and works beautifully with every USB controller
on the planet (almost).

At this point, wouldnt it make more sense for Bernie to release the entire Amithlon / Umilator code as open source? Since he isnt making money anyways, at least AmigaOS XL would make less and we cpuld get better updates and support...!?!!?!?

Maybe Bernie can go over and work with the AROS developers :)

Amithlon community should be helped and supported by AMIGA INC as well, as WinUAE, LinuxUAE because AmigaOS is running very well under PC hardware.

Several Amiga users are now using Amithlon and WinUAE with powerfull PCs.
This permite several people still be creative and productive under AmigaOS since now some years.
On these systems AMigaOS is running very well, and could be is real competitor of others OS for an every day use and even some professional use.
The new PCs become real Amiga clones running AmigaOS VERY VERY FAST.

I think that Amithlon and WinUAE are not competitors of the new AmigaPowerPC computers running AmigaOS PPC system.
Amithlon and WinUAE will progress and still improve compatibility with AmigaOS classic and probably later will support the incoming new AmigaOS.

Amithlon and WinUAE community are an other Amiga community, a parallel community of the official Amiga community.
As it is an Amiga community that is generating new Amiga Users and creating new interest to AmigaOS for People, AMiga Inc and even Hyperion should support that alternative Amiga community that is AMiga and Still AMiga.
Support why ? by helping WinUAE-(AFever-Cloanto) and AMithlon open independant developpers to have an official and reconized support.

This can help AmigaOS progressing too on PC hardware while it is progressing well on PowerPC hardware.
All AMiga community can work together by supporting themselves and acting together to make a common goal = a better AmigaOS operating system.

Amithlon developpers like Bernie and other independant need OFFICIAL support from Amiga Inc. it is good for Amiga community.

Yes, sadly Amithlon runs just about everything AOS4 can run, probably faster, and native Amithlon x86 vs Native OS4, Amithlon would blow the doors off OS4.

Not only that, but since the kernel is opensource, nobody would have to worry about unsupported motherboards ever again. AOS would live on top of the Amithlon kernel forever.

It's a crying shame Amiga wasn't in the financial position to step up to the legal plate against H&P.

In the last magazine they suggest users promote amigaforever as an introduction to amiga for pc users.

As A1Micro seems way off amigaforever seems a good solution.

Any ETA on my K8T800 kernel?

In reply to Comment 16 (Anonymous):
Provided the kernel can actually boot on an x86-64 processor, most of the K8T800's functions hould already work with the new kernel.
