At today's hearing of the Tribunal of Commerce in Paris a judgment was rendered declaring Pretory, S.A. in bankruptcy and appointing a receiver. The process finally will now begin to transfer Thendic-France's assets to Genesi SARL. Our situation with Pretory S.A. has been a long and difficult one. In all matters we have cooperated with the French Government and agreed to close the Company in a coordinated and proper manner. Time will demonstrate that we have behaved properly and legally in all respects as shareholders and managers. In no way will these matters effect Genesi. Finally, we are personally free to devote the time and resources we want to the Genesi. Sincerely, Raquel and Bill

Considering the fact that Dave Haynie can have civil discussions with Bill Buck and others involved with the Pegasos on the Phoenix mailing list, etc., the legal status of the code doesn't seem to be much of an issue, at least on that level. MorphOS has been the topic a number of times and the question of stolen code never came up. The future prospects of the platform have been discussed by these guys and the legality of the code never came up. More important things like what demand does it meet, what market does it serve, what capabilities does it have and so on were the focus, as they should be. So I'd say it's a nonissue as far as these people are concerned. If it's an issue for Amiga, Inc., that company should have pursued it back when they were throwing the accusations around. If they had a viable case, they should have backed up their words with action. I think the reasonable conclusion is that they didn't and don't have a case. People who still claim they do apparently don't have all the information.

What he said was that he was "mildly interested" in AmigaOS and slightly less so in MorphOS, if you'd like to read his interview again. If someone thinks this makes him "a red troll," that'd be up to that braindead individual.

I read the original story, as well as the ramblings of quite a few, who were obviously quite displeased at Dave's low opinion of the Pegasos. If I hadn't been so angry at that pack of lunatics, I would have been quite amused at people who could hardly work their computers making all sorts of learned statements about how Dave's "losing it" and how he "hadn't designed anything worthwhile in years". I bet if Dave had said anything else, they would've been all over how such a great man obviously appreciates an elegant design...

Sorry, i didn't know people must avoid writing names on ANN.
Please read "Hyperion member" instead.

I thought you knew past Amiga history, sorry. Well, you can easily
google for Mr Haynie (sorry if I don't know how to write about him
without puting his name :-/ ) and ex-phase5, its past members, etc...
I hope I helped you.

If Dave Haynie has bad things to say about people involved in the current soap opera that is the amiga, they probably deserve it. Don't forget, he also has a few choice words for Merlancia and the people who were running it, so it's not like he's a red zealot.

Its called dragging stuff in without giving it a useful context. It could be
taken for a call-to-arms for the witch burning brigade to start posting all sorts
of pointless personal attacks on Ben Hermans who has stayed away from this thread
so far.

I don't think anyone can know it all ( and yes I know that was a put down
but Im not rising to it ).

Not as much as Gary did. But you can also search on Amiga.org for the comments
to the dave haynie interview, which show a much more recent attempt at
dismissal-through-character-assassination.

From what I have read it shows he has issues with what has been done, rather than
people personally.

Dave.

No shock. Peg fanatics and their gods still have not to accept the fact that Amiga has not given them consent to use their trademarks above and beyond a certain list of devices and Peg isn't one of them.

If they cannot accept this what makes you think that they will accept the reality that Peg is not God's gift?

Well, what's missing from the articles is the timeline. BB ousted the other guy in charge. Why? Were people underpaid, overworked, did money get laundered before or after the change in management? Did changes try to occur in order to save the company?

1) Were BB & RV sent in to try and make sense out of a big mess in companies that they (and/or their friends) invested in?
2) Did they come in to take advantage of the situation, make some cash on the side and smooth talk their way (via their friends) into sweet deals?
3) Was this an attempt by the FBI/CIA to come in and have an internal look and compromise French airport/airplane security?

The articles seem to lean towards "2" while possibly hinting remotly on "3". BBRV are hinting at "1". No one with any real information can state anything at the moment so I guess we'll find out sometime in the future.

I don't know, reading the articles just leaves me a little confused. Then again, I'm franco-ontarian, and not used to the idioms of European French. ;)

...or they ran out of funds that would allow them to pursue the case. I think we can now figure out why Genesi is hoping to make *friends* with Amiga and also why they are pressing this lawsuit? Fear for MOS when Amiga gets out from under that cloud and gets funds.

>I'm still not clear if Damian is developing apps for DE, or DE itself.

I am writting apps and games. Some parts may eventually be used in AmigaDE itself (specially when I write object classes that can be reused on other projects). Don't forget the DE is a sum of object classes and content.

That's all.
