I must say, it's good to see any activity from any quater in these quiet times. With abit (alot?) of luck and goodwill we can get away from the courts and back to the innovating. I hope that dream hasn't ended.

nice x-mas gift for my Peg.
But on the other hand: Congrats for the PegII. It will rock!

Hmmm... sent next week, Monday the 22nd at the earliest. That's not in time for christmas for most people, I'm afraid. But then, better late than never, right?

Anyway, still no explanation for the long over due delivery date that was initially promised?

MorphOS 1.4 for Pegasos II isn't just MorphOS 1.4 with Pegasos II compatibility, it has some more treats in store than a "quick port".

But we don't want to call it a full release until we have time to
make it a full release, rather than being forced at gunpoint to
get hw&sw out of the door :)

Delays are normal in the computer industry. If it had arrived at the announced time, _then_ there would be a need for explanations.

So what were the problems which have been resolved?
Also, assuming most orders have been done using a credit card, isn`t it a bit strange to charge those before the ordered item actually is available to ship. I for sure would get rather upset to see my credit card bill and wonder why I didn`t get what I paid for. Normal practice would be to charge the credit card when the item is to be shipped. But I guess I missed something here, right?

Finally I would like to say, and a very nice christmaspresent to people and to this community, and it will be very exciting to see and feel and touch these new boards for the first time ever :-), and try out different systems and everything, Im really looking forward to it.

Congratulations to Genesi, bplan and all people behind.

However I do keep my fingers crossed until I have a board in my hand.

And merry christmas to all, and a happy new year !

It was more of a question in general, not to you in particular :-) And I figure that "if" they ship the major obstacles preventing shipping/production, have been taken obviously. But most interesting is what those "obstacles" were.

> So what were the problems which have been resolved?

Since they have been resolved, that's a rather academic and uninteresting question.
Design problems, manufacturing problems, shipping problems, "someone" ordering the entire first production batch... The end result is the same; an extremely short (in computer industry terms) delay. And now that problem is not here anymore (knock on wood). So?

> Also, assuming most orders have been done using a credit card, isn`t it a bit
> strange to charge those before the ordered item actually is available to ship.

Yes. But I wonder what product and company you're talking about, because such a hypothetical scenario has nothing to do with this thread.

> Normal practice would be to charge the credit card when the item is to be
> shipped.

So we have a case of normal practice here. Intriguing! Not.

> But I guess I missed something here, right?

Excellent question.

Is Genesi going to build more Peg 2s?
Are they going to be built only to order, or built to ensure that they are always available so that people can order them and get them straight away?

Spamface stop trolling. AmigaOS4 has got to be one of the latest OS releases ever. There's been missed deadlines along the way and set backs. Unfortunately, it's the state of HW and SW today. Many companies don't even give an estimated release date until the actual software is at the printers and actual hardware is in production.

Well, obviously there is a small difference between three months late with the second model and one or two years late with the cornerstone, the OS. Most people who really want a Pegasos + PPC OS already own it (for many months). For those people a Pegasos 2 is a nice upgrade but not a presssing issue.

Weighing the upgrade benefit against not having any Peg during the upgrade process. May just have to buy a PegII at full price and end up with two of them. They made the Peggy too good! :) I don't want to part with it even for a moment!
