Is AE4 going to be bundled with OS4 free of charge, or is it to be sold separately?

Cool. I think the authors should fix the "Mixer" window, though. Rightmost window borders are butt ugly IMHO!

The 68k-demo does not work on my Peg-MOS setup.
Yes, I now, you just wany to support OS4, but it might be
interesting anyway. Fonts are rendered outside their containters,
and the GUI just plain freezes.

I did some testing of your software on WinUAE months ago
and I must say I was not very impressed by the quality,

But sure, its OS4 only so lets just hope it works for that platform.

Yeah, lets insult the remaining few amiga developers. What a great idea. Maybe you could give an indication of why you weren't very impressed with the quality rather than whinge?

In reply to Comment 3 (Leif):
To add to that...

if the software is such "poor quality", a) why do you want a MorphOS port, and b) why did you bother trying it on MorphOS in the first place?

Maybe you should reconsider your tactics if you want Davy to port it to MOS ;-)

Idiot. I did feedback the problems I had to the developer.
But incase you have to know
The 68k version tried to open v44 libs.
even after I reported the error atleast two times.
After that it just plain crashed on the "welcome-window".

But as I said, it was the 68k-demo, maybe the OS4-only version works better.

OS3.1 (v40)..

Correct, Leif. And we got it worked out I remember. I didn't go back to an 3.1 installation and that was my fault. Well, the welcome window issue was never reported by others nor could I reproduce it. I understand all about your first impressions, and sorry it worked out this way. Luckily, there were many others with more positive views.
I know why it doesn't run on MOS now. It's in gadtools and unless MOS doesn't have its own implementation of it, it's just not going to run. Meanwhile, there's just more and more OS4 specific code in AE4, that I even won't build an OS3.x 68k version anymore.

There is no need to be quite so negative.

It looks like an excellent piece of software and I know that an Amigan friend of mine that is a professional musician is very interested in seeing it on his AmigaOne when 4 is available.

Hopefully there is more OS4 enhanced software to come! :)

Its perfectly understandable if you go for OS4 only. Just dont label the demo as OS3.1 compatible :) Unless you think WinUAE is not compatible enough.
I can undrstand if it doesnt work on MOS, beein gonly 99.99% compatible or something like that.

The 68k demo does work on Amithlon. Personal Paint also works on Amithlon but (I am told) not on MorphOS. There may be a compatability problem in MorphOS.

Yeah, maybe it works okey on OS3.1 now. Ive been runing MOS the latest months now.

So in a way, I may have to take back some of what I said :)
-If MOS gadtools is flawed that is.

It was a flaw in OS3.x gadtools. I had the very same crash when using 68k gadtools on the A1. Maybe MOS implemented it the same way...

@Davey

Personally, I think that's a good idea. Shaking off of the legacy (uhm.. "stuff") means AE will be more powerful and take advantage of features that the legacy AmigaOS versions do not have.

It just means AE will be bigger and better and that's a big plus in my book.

Does it? I was told it didn't. Maybe the other people didn't know how to set it up, or there might be a maximum screen width.

I remember we exchanged lots of emails with Dave and tried to find out why it didn't work on MOS, eventually not finding the exact solution. There were other problems aswell, not only the GUI locking up and crashing the Pegasos. Too bad it won't be available for me.. as a musician I'd have wanted to at least try it. Me sticks to SoundForge then :)

About the PPaint working on MOS.. I don't know about MOS for classics, but on Pegasos/MOS it doesn't work. And probably never will.

You can't tell until OS4 is generally available and you can try them both out.

My guess is that it will be a matter of personal preference.

I drool over this program.....

As soon as they get this (or some other multitrack recording program) working on OS4.0 and get Bars & Pipes working natively as well, that will have clinched it....I'll be buying as AmigaOne!

There are too many timing problems running Bars & Pipes under emulation (subtle timing problems, albeit, but even subtle timing problems are big problems when it comes to music).

Well, some users clearly had problems with PP in MorphOS. I had problems with it but can't remember if those problems were solved... And for Audio Evolution Demo I recall it was not working on MorphOS beta (BPPC) and not on my AmigaOS either. It was just crashing in both operating systems. But it looked very interesting (as far as I could run demo, and it was just demo after all).

In reply to Comment 17 (Davy):
Morphos gadtools.library (being based on AROS' one) is
boopsi-based. While AOS gadtools.library (at least in
versions <= 3.9. No idea about 4.0) is based on pre 2.0
old-style Intuition gadgets and the more complex gadgets (listview)
are hand-hacked-together in a mui-style way, ie. they are
handled by app task through GT_FilterIMsg(), GT_RefreshWindow().
That's why there are functions like this in the first place.

Now unfortunately there are programs/libraries out there which
rely on internals of gadtools.library. Like by doing a test
whether a gadget message came from a gadget which is GTYP_STRGADGET.
This will of course fail if the gadtools gadget is boopsi based.

Another problem could possibly be, that in the boopsi-based approach
certain gadget callbacks may end up being called in Intuition/input.device
context, while in the AOS style approach they may always end up being
called on the app context. And in input.device context you may not do all
the things you may do in app task. Like calling dos.library functions for
example.
