As bplan GmbH announces, the version of the Open Firmware shipped with the Pegasos II is faulty: after changes made by "setenv" the system does not boot anymore! You can find the needed update at http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/update_d.html. (German; english version to follow.)

Mouhahaha! They should've done like the Certified and Licensed professionals - make some users pay for exchange of the physical firmware chips if they at least want semifunctional hardware! Downloading an upgrade just like most computer users in the world... That's UNPROFESSIONAL! The Peg users aren't PROTECTED! ;')

Rushed out product indeed.
First broken installer script and now buggy firmware, wierd how users
reporting everything is so *fast* and wonderful. These "reports" must be
fake. I wouldn't touch a product like this before a few months have gone by
to make sure all the bugs are fixed.

Look this is exactly what I mean. Fighting amongst eachother about who makes mistakes and when, where, how is totally rediculous because before you know it.....you make the same stupid mistake.

Genesi are able to admit they have made a goofus and wiling to make fixes ASAP. based what I haev understood.. this OF-bug was only noticed earlier today. bad thing is.. they do make mistakes at time to time and can't be able to sort them all out before releasing new stuff. Anyhow, not a showstopper..

From my experince, I can say: if firmware update to Aone is as painless as it is to Pegasos there ain't much to worry about.

As for the A1, i don't know, the later ones come with a flashable rom iirc

I got my AmgaOne-XE in June and I've updated the flash rom twice. It takes a couple of minutes and is totally painless. :-)

In my opinion this thing is crap... but it is good for Peg2 users that Genesi is fast enough to make a fix in a little time.

Congratulations for getting a good product out relatively on time.

I'm waiting to see when you or the other Amiga-related companies actually start to innovate before I buy. The current offerings are, compared to the pc equivalents, too poor for my liking.

But I hope you have the best of success and can show some much needed leadership in the IT industry.

In the same fashion I wish the best of success to Hyperion & eyetech and I hope for the same future for them too.

My expectations aren't high though.

For my company we ordered two Sony VAIO laptops.

They were completely faulty : hardrive damn slow, machine slowing down enourmously when not connected to sector power, etc etc...

We had to change them.

So if Sony fails, why not Genesi or Eyetech, or the milkman, or the baker etc... ?
