koehler as many people in the Amiga community know my son (not brother, don't have one) was hurt very badly on Aug 30th 2003.

http://amiga.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2710

He is still recovering and helping with Spontaneous Combustion gave him something to do since he could not go back to school and was stuck at home. He got to learn a new skill instead of having to think about his long road to recovery all the time. Your comment making fun of his injury is in very very bad taste. I hope making fun of 13 year old boys that have been burned badly is not your normal past time.

Bill, where is my comment wherein I make fun of your son?
What I make fun off is your spamming of moobunny with some lame PR release. More to the point, the fact that your post is on 12/30, with some sort of late night tv sales tactic to act by 12/31 to get your product for $49.

Even more to the point, what I distinctly find odious is not only the use of someone's injury to try and sell your product during the holidays ( you should be ashamed as a parent), but your bullshit 'excuse' that you are acting altruisticly for the benefit of Amiga users who've had no good software available for 2003.

The fact that you as the head of the company felt like jumping on various websites to announce a product at Christmas time and invoke an injured party, and then try to close some sales by 12/31, well seems very reminiscent of another Bill's tactics I've seen in the Amiga community.

If you were really so altruistic, you could have 'announced' that you were extending the $49 offer for a couple of months. But, you obviously want sales by 12/31.

And, as someone who will be a father soon, and who works with real corporate types on almost daily basis, I know none of them would ever try to make sales off of the public's pity during the holidays, nor ever.

Try if you will, to make me out as some monster who made fun of your injured son. It doesn't wash.

What does wash is your obvious scammish last minute attempt to bump some sales by 12/31 with a 12/30 PR release on various sites.
What does wash is your opportunistic ploy at the public's heartstrings with a pity ploy about someone's injuries.
What does wash is your transparent excuse that you were just trying to give back to the community, and not running a last minute sales operation.

Be a man, show us how much you really meant when you said you were doing it for the community. Extend the $49 offer for a couple of months, you're the boss.

koehler the only reason Andy was mentioned is because he helped develop the product to distract himself from all the rehabilitation and Therapy he has to go through. He really enjoys the Amiga and the Toaster so it has helped in the healing process. And Andy gets a big part of the money from each sale, which is kind of nice for a 13 year old. This is not Viagra it is Amiga software that is developed because we enjoy doing it not some get rich MLM scam which is what you seem to make it out to be. I even offered you a free review copy at first but your to busy complaining about nothing. And your off comment about Andy is in bad taste, and not appreciated, ask anyone.

Why do you care so much ? He is allowed to do, to announce, to sell whatever he wants and he belies is right in his vision. There is no need for you to jump on - on this and play his judge or take him to the shambles. If you are not interested in his product or announcement then please skip over it and read something else. I for my own think that Bill, his company, his work and even his volunteer activities with the Amizilla project are important and a big benefit for this community. We need people with creativity and own ideas. I don't know what he may have written on MooBunny but after all it's his business and his way to articulate thing. And on earth there are more things important than computers, it's the own family, the own children. Everything else is luxus.

It is up to the sites maintainers to decide what is considered as free advertisement or not, it is not up to the users.
Bill has made tremendous efforts for the platform.
I welcome any of his announcements any time here and wish him the best for him and his family for 2004.

I agree with koehler - to some extent.

I don't mind the spamming, since that is partly what this board is about. News.

However, mentioning your son in a way to sell a product is not a great thing to do IMHO. It looks really bad.

The fact that koehler sent all of DiscreetFX's email addresses to several SPAM lists, which are normally sold throughout the spam underground, is simply moronic behaviour.

Yes, it would be, if I had in fact done such.
You folks must have missed my public apology over on the bunny....

In short, the OP on the bunny was a classic 'spam' type of post.
In this case however, I think it was in fact a legit post, albeit suspicious.

As mentioned on the bunny, I am sending $49 ( the price of the sepcial offer) to Bill, for his son, and as evidence of my sincere apology.
