January 2004 was supposed to be the unveiling of Anachronism Industries to the Amiga market, our first target market and the one closest to our heart. Unfortunately this is not going to happen due to circumstances beyond our control. Anachronism Industries is officially withdrawing from the Amiga market, days before our scheduled launch. Please watch 'Auctions by redrumloa' (ebay seller redrumloa)over the coming days and weeks. Please bookmark this page. We will be clearing out the inventory items we had intended to retail. Some of it is in stock and others are still in transport. It may be a month before everything is posted, but when it's gone it's gone.

Don't you have to enter the market before you can withdraw?

That's too bad, you (and your unbelievable NOS deals) will be sorely missed.

Is this somehow related to that upcoming new years announcement by bbrv?

Haha no. People really still don't think there is a connection between me and Genesi do they? There is no relation.

There is plenty other doom and gloom on the horizon though:-(

Instead of announcing bad news from a company nobody's ever heard of, and that (AFAIK) has produced no products, and with no reason, why announce it all? At least give a reason.

Anachronism Industries may not be well known, but visitors of Amiga.org may have heard of it (was in the news their at least once) and most know red..

And Anachronism Industries was not going to produce anything AFAIK, but Red had/has a somewhat large stock of "old" computers, some even NOS..

Selling old hardware at rip off prices really is pathetic, scum like Jim Farley really is the sort of cancer the Amiga community does not want or need.

Farley get out of the Amiga community forever vermin.

Rip-off prices!?
He sells A500s for 45$, Individual's Graffity for 20$, even an A1000 motherboard (NOS) for 8$! Are these rip off prices!? Are you people serious!?

I thought his "buy now" prices were pretty good. Besides, in an "auction", it's the buyer who decides what he is willing to pay, not Jim. Oh, hang on, we're not supposed to rationalize your statement as it's just mindless crap.

If only more people sold things on ebay the way Jim does (products, description, quality, etc)...

Does Fleecy shag you for free PR? or does he leave the shaging for your father?

Well I can't say I'm surprised. When I first saw the ad in amiga.org I thought the name Anachronism Industries was a bit bizarre given the history of companies called "something industries" within our community.

Dude, although I don't understand half of what is probably meant to be some kind of British English, I take it you are trying to pull some pretty offensive moves.

Thank you for the kind comments. That was just some coward cowering behind a keyboard. I'm not going to let it bother me. People who buy from me know I am no rip off artist.

Jim

Call me a troll, but I fail to see how selling Vacuum cleaners on eBay would have any affect on the Amiga (or lack thereof) market.

Heh. This is how Alice Cooper got started. People would be so offended at the group's early shows that, by the time they opened for the Doors at the Cheetah club in the early seventies, they were buying tickets just to walk out before the main act came onstage. But then the group got good; and then they got great. And then they saw three of their albums occupying slots #1, #2, and #3 at the same time (respectively, "Billion Dollar Babies", "School's Out", and "Killer").

What some people or companies will do to help a legend along ;-)

And thirty years later, what relative equivalent could Amiga be receiving? http://www.AliceCooper.com

So they come, they go, they return again. Whether Amiga is the one you love to hate or hate to love, it's not going away.

Yeah but he isn't selling this stuff through his no-longer-to-be Amiga shop - he's selling them on Ebay - Maybe Jim's liquidating his planned vacuum cleaner business too. It might not be helping the Amiga but I don't think there's a restriction.... ;-)

Hey.... don't laugh.... There was a store called "Vacuum Hut" not too far from my parents' house (Metro Detroit) that sold vacuum cleaners and (Amiga) video editing systems. I remember I interviewed the owner for part of a college project. It was rather shocking to see Hoover and NewTek signs inside the same building.

I'm not:-) It's impossible to build a company on just selling Amiga product, the market is simply too small with too many people who cry "$50 for a new Amiga 500 is a ####### ripoff!! Cut his #### off!"

hehe I lied, I am laughing:-) I guess the guy missed the 20+ A500s, the 10+ Graffitis, the Catweasels, the A1k motherboards. Well, no he didn't miss it he ignored it. I know who it is hiding behind the anonymous nick, and it's not anyone I would concern myself with;-)

Do me a favour and email me to let me know who it is. That way, if I ever meet him at a convention then I'll be able to "introduce" myself.

Thanks.

sigh.

I have to observe that as a community we've adopted the practice of being 'news police.'

Anachronism Industries had the interest of some people. I am not one of them, but I think its rude to act like this shouldn't have been posted. There are community members interested in this. Lets have respect.

Now, personally I never liked the name Anachronism, because it reminds me of the SCA, a group of rather silly people.

but thats neither here nor there, sorry to see a company leave the community, and I wish redrumload the best.
