A module from a PegasosII is now avail in AmigaMARK.

PegasosII AmigaMARK-module avail : Comment 1 of 10 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 01-Jan-2004 11:29 GMT | The hardware is not set up in an optimal way yet, this is a pretty conservative setup. There is room for a lot of HW tweaking so there's more speed potential in the following SW updates. |

Posted by Nowee on 02-Jan-2004 12:45 GMT | Hey natmeg ;)
I must tell that i never did the test in the best conditions, progs running in background and a day or two uptime...
Furthermore, as said the anon some time ago, it wasn't especially optimised
for both G4 and peg2 ;) |

http://pix.a500.de/amigamark.jpg
2xPeg2(G4), Peg1(G3) and CSPPC
I think at least those graphs are what was expected.
(I think the memory speed shows the improvement from 100Mhz to 133Mhz. And that Artisia+April2 is not that bad combination at this test) |

PegasosII AmigaMARK-module avail : Comment 9 of 10 | ANN.lu |
Posted by -D- on 03-Jan-2004 20:27 GMT | In reply to Comment 3 (tester2): I have just uploaded a module from a Pegasos II G3, which I imagine will be up
shortly.
From my interpretation, CPU speed is (for all practical purposes) equal to the
Peg I G3, which is obviously no shock. Memory "speeds" according to these tests
don't really reveal anything earth-shattering, and there were some noticeable
differences in specefic areas between different G3 machines...so I am assuming
that memory type, april revision and other factors will naturally affect the
results.
The most interesting data for me is that which points to how choice of
filesystem seems to *considerably* affect the hd benchmarks. Judging by the
numbers shown, SFS seems to be faster "overall" when averaging the results
of the various tests; however, PFS3 wins by a signifigant margin in the areas
of "read from file", "write to file", "close from write", "read from device"
and "seek on device".
Now...I am no expert so the above may be seriously skewed...;) |

Posted by priest on 04-Jan-2004 18:20 GMT | IMHO: Peg2 would/should shine (when compared to Peg1) on tests where several things are run simultaneously. For example simulated CD burning at 16x speed when mp3 is being played and lha crunching (on lower priority) files on RAM drive... Timing the lha packing should reveal slight advantage of the extra bandwidth. |
