Their 2 US resellers aren't even selling Pegasus right now(one is a consultation company and the other is on Pre-Order.) I thought the production was going forward?

All I can say is that this production in "batches" sucks for the end user. We have to wait minimum 1 month for any new order (most likely more than that...as you have to wait for production run, then 2-3 weeks to test/ship).

This is all reminding me of phase 5 days where you had to wait months to get any product.

Maybe they have to do it because of financial constraints or too much market risk...who knows, but for the end user or those buyers who purchase on impulse, this really sucks :)

If they produce every months and produce enough so the resellers can have a little stock then there should be no problem for the end user.

How else can they do it? Keep a production line tied up to make today's orders, what, 5 pegasos boards a day? You clearly just don't have a clue :)

Yeah, wouldn't on demand production be cool. Sort of like on demand printing.

What Amiga company doesn't produce merchandise in batches? Such small runs of such things are obviously only going to be manufactured in such a way. The difference between Genesi and other companies (Eyetech), is they are telling the truth about this, as opposed to making up stories (email server offline, Motorola problems, etc.).

I think its more a matter of the dealers ... all remaining Amiga dealers are small shops and or mail-order companies ... they can't afford to have a great stock without knowing that they will really get rid of it in the end.

Agree Kee. The market is small and the few resellers are really even small :(
Anyway as I repeated 3 months ago I hope that Peggy2 will be not a collection machine like Peggy1, but a real all users machine: let's hope :/

The reason they are in "pre-order" status because they have sold out their stock,
If You don't believe me, call Ultra-spec and ask for Nit... and they don't charge You untill they ship!! Also I found out that they will be selling systems, that you can configure to your specs, which is pretty much what I did.

Not all the resellers are really small, Ultra-spec is known in the Unix community and is one of the main after-market sellers of cables, kvm's, etc for Sun and Sgi users, who either can't afford sun's prices or want a better selection, of Monitor cables, etc...

I believe you on that. But weren't the problems done with and better availability of the Pegasos?

After all Ben Hermann bad words on Genesi and Bplan, it would be adsurd to support Hyperion in any way.
Until Aos will be managed by these ppl (BillyBoy Mcewan, BenHermann and some wise guyz at Eyetech), well, they will be only able to relabell a Taiwanes MainBoard "Amiga" and call new Amigan OS ... Linux (waiting in the meantime Aos4, that will be released in an unknow date and in an unknow state ... if it will be released ...).

Anyway this tread is about Pegasos new production AosOnPeg ... we should talk about the fact that for some reasons (money, risks, lowprofile) Genesi (can't) don't want produce REALLy these mobos. We're looking again to a "production" of a new collection machine :(
With this numbers on the street (1000 peg2 so far) few developers can start new projects for MoS-Pegasos. Here I have 3-4 friends that will buy Peggy2 tomorrow if they could buy it without PREPAYNG 2 months before (with no assurance that in 2 months they will obtain it...)
I hope in a good future for Genesi, Bplan And Mos Team (Mos1.4 on Peg2 is fantastic) but with these numbers ... we reached the absurd position where there are people that want to spend money ... but cannot.

If that is so, how come BB claimed that they would get AOS4 running on the Pegasos one way or another? Wouldn't it be easier to support Hyperion in that case?

>Until Aos will be managed by these ppl (BillyBoy Mcewan, BenHermann and some wise guyz at Eyetech), well, they will be only able to relabell a Taiwanes

My A1 board is not a relabeled Taiwanese mainboard. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth. (Hint: http://www.mai.com/contact/index.html)

What world are you living in? Fantasic is a pretty strong word for an unfinished OS...

Seriously, who cares??? Who compared Mos with Aos4??? Get a clue!!!

I'd say that AOS4 works great for me, but I still use XP at work.
I would never say AOS4 is fantastic nor would I say XP is fantstic but
I use and enjoy them both for the different purposes.

EVA, you shouldn't be worried at all, why worry about something you don't want? Unless you are afraid Genesi can't stand competition offcourse.
Let both of them (Eyetech/Hyperion and Genesi/bplan) be in peace.

Cheers
