Vote for the Amiga-Unwort (bad, unwanted word) of the year 2003 at amiga-news.de!

I voted for the constant misuse of "FUD", but some skin-crawlers are missing:

"New Amiga".

"Amiga Community Portal", or "Portal" in general.

"True Amiga user".

"Confirmed", as in "X has|hasn't confirmed that...", when X is a subjective part in a discussion (and is often likely to know less on the issue than the people arguing).

"Protection".

"PegPong".

"Undesirables".

"Unconstructive".

"Feature".

"Hidden agenda".

"Loyalty".

In other words; same old, same old.

BTW, what does "Abzocke" mean? It's not in any of my dictionaries.

In reply to Comment 1 (Seehund):
Abzocke is german slang word for "making a fool of someone".

ie:

if you buy something and the price is way too high it's Abzocke.

if you buy a computer and there are no drivers available for the
hardware in it and it has not been stated during the sale, it's Abzocke.

etc etc (put your favorite Abzocke in here :)

"OS4 on Tour" is my favourite hated word. It implies they actually have something finished to tour, when they don't.

Oh, and that should be "unwort". The brighter among you might have noticed that "OS4 on Tour" is three words. Although maybe I'm hoping too much.

;)

I see Seehund already said "True Amiga User." How about:

"Just Around the Corner."
"Developer Pre-Release."

"Please port this software for Amiga" would be one of my favourites (Without even bothering to look at source code, of course)

Genesi seems like a good one.

It sounds a bit like genocide, and they've done a good job of killing
off the Amiga community.

Yeah, right Genesi is killing the community, Genesi is a virus! And Amiga Inc. is not a virus, since viruses do something, blah...

(Ps: I'm typing this on my Amiga 2000/060/PIV system, which i'm using happily every day. And my Pegasos II system is on its way since Genesi do support developers... And i'm going to use it for developing software which will run on Classic Amigas as well. Come on, what are you waiting for? Now you have the reason, to call me a blue troll, *sigh*...)

Or, how about "Amiga"? You'll have a hard time finding more people hating that word than in the Amiga community. Christian Kemps idea to drop the original meaning of ANN (Amiga News Network) is a perfect example.

In reply to Comment 17 (samface):
The main reason I dropped the "Amiga" name is that I didn't want ANN to be(come) "Amiga(TM) Network News" - Amiga Inc. was at the time asking/requiring people to include legalese on their web pages saying Amiga is a trademark of Amiga Inc. etc. and I seem to remember that Amiga's legal department (?) required webmasters to get them to check/acknowledge/allow/whatever the use of the trademark. I didn't want to be dependent of Amiga Inc. in any way, and wanted ANN to remain impartial in the bets possible way, so since the domain didn't contain the trademark I could just rename the website and not get into any trouble whatsoever.
