Richard Drummond has made yet another release of his improved UAE. This time it is based on WinUAE 0.8.23 and versioned UAE-0.8.23-20040126. Amongst other things it has improved Picasso96 emulation and support for raw keymaps. As usual it can be found on his webpage http://www.rcdrummond.net/uae/.

Cool, nuce to see UAE catching up to WinUAE.
Any chance for 3D support in UAE like in WinUAE?

In reply to Comment 1 (anon):
AFAIK WinUAE doesn't have any 3D support. It only uses Direct3D for filtering the output (i.e anti-aliasing).

In reply to Comment 3 (David Holm):
I could have sworn it had OpenGL support, and that someone had written a wrapper that could be run under AmigaOS to allow AmigaOS apps to use OpenGL.

Can someone confirm this? I forget what it's called, the wrapper that you run on AOS.

I've still got a long way to go. ;-)

> Any chance for 3D support in UAE like in WinUAE?

I had heard about QuarkTex. It should be possible to support it on Linux (and probably on any X server with the GLX extension), but I have no immediate plans to do so, however. There are more important things to fix first.

Sure. I see no reason why it wouldn't work with AmigaOS and MiniGL also.

Richard what about sending stephen (MagicSN) your Source code and ask him to do a quick compile of it for OS4 ? How about asking them to send you the Linux or Amiga 68K cross compiler thats been mentioned.

The source code is available for anybody who wants to compile it for AmigaOS 4.0, WarpOS or whatever.

I do hope to be providing a native OS4.0 build myself soon.

Once the OS4 CD is out, I can send you the source for an ReAction/OS4 native UAE GUI i started writing, if you think that will be useful to you.

When are you going to enable the AHI sound in the AmigaOS
version? :)

Soon. It needs more debugging. It compiles okay, but bombs at run-time. :(

Why don't you create a MOS binary, and
we will tell you if it build 'okay' ;-)

It is great that someone has taken on updating UAE. Excellent work Richard. Now if only someone would write a JIT-compiler for PowerPC (<- Hint ;)

That's probably next. In the meantime, anybody want to try a WarpOS build? It's completely untested by me, so it may crash your machine in the blink of an eye - who knows? Feedback is welcome. ;-)
