We are very happy to let you all know that Alan Redhouse will visit us at the AmiGBG 2004 fair. Alan will tell us about what is happening around the AmigaOne hardware and what we can expect further on this year.

PayPal has been integrated into the ticket ordering system, so it´s now possible to pay your ticket in an easy way if you live outside Sweden. We celebrate this by having a DVD movie lottery among those who pre-pay their AmiGBG 2004 tickets!

It's really not my intention to sound like one of those annoying people nagging about "Where is the Pegasos?"/"Where is the A1?" but:

I see no mention of the Pegasos/MorphOS on your website?! Is that a simple error from your webadmins, do I need to get my eyes checked, or is it because you have choosen to exclude the Pegasos/MorphOS from the show?

I'm not going to say the pegasos should/should not be there, but perhaps they didn't find someone to come from the blue camp?

Also, it's up to the organisers to decide whom they invite i guess, we should be glad there are still people doing the effort to organise these things, unrelated to their colors, believes or whatever ;)

Cheers

They would have found someone. I know that for sure.

> Also, it's up to the organisers to decide whom they invite i guess

Of course! And it's up to the visitors to decide which shows they visits.

> we should be glad there are still people doing the effort to organise these
> things, unrelated to their colors, believes or whatever ;)

So you feel that their stance is "unrelated to their colors, believes or whatever"? Well, perhaps ...

Look, all I wanted to say is that the numbers of visitors has constantly dropped on all shows during these last years. No matter where in the world. On all show reports we see comments like "the show was interesting, but where were the visitors?". And those shows targetted *the whole* Amiga market, not just one part of it.

I was really thinking of going to that show this year. It's a long and expensive travel for me, but I was thinking that it would be kind of worth it to see some unreleased betas of MorphOS, perhaps see those 3D radeon drivers in development, the Video Microwave, etc, etc. MorphOS products, games and applications, both from Genesi and 3rd party companies. And while I was there I would of course liked to have a look at OS4 too! Maybe do some quick comparisons between MorphOS and OS4 myself (there is nothing like a first hand experience in this regard). I am *sure* that there are people that thinks like this, but the other way around too.

Now this won't happen. The show is limited to be only a one day show that only deals with one part of the community/market. This will surely do magic to the numbers of visitors! You can put all the DVD's you want on that ticket lottery, it will still have little effect ...

Or perhaps this IS an error by the webadmins, or perhaps I DO need to get my eyes checked?

@takemehomegrandma

I guess that Gunne Steen who is an Amiga dealer from Gothenborg will also bring some Pegasos machines with him?

But it seems like the organisers are concentrating about doing a Amiga show only, anyway I don't think that will affect the number of visitors in any way.

Some will stay away because there is no pegasos on the show and others will go there because there's fianlly a real Amiga (and only Amiga) show.

I will go myself hoping for a show 90%+ focused on AmigaOS(4)

Whenever AmigaOS 4 is launched, I do think that you will be seeing Fleecy there. I wonder if Hyperion/Eyetech/Amiga is aiming for a launch at CEBIT this year (they didn't make it last year)... :) Or maybe the releasedate will slip back into August / September.

If people would really think like that than the greatest Amiga show (with thousands of attendees) we had years ago were not "real Amiga (and only Amiga) show".
IMO a show that would support Amiga + Amiga compatible solutions would get more visitors.
I think that the best shows to get more people are the "Alternative computing" shows where people that are not aware of anything Amiga related these days can see, test, speak to their friends about the new Amiga/Amiga compatible solutions.
The "Amiga Inc made" elitism will only help to narrow the "Real Amigans" user base faster.

Fleecy's 'information' does not provide the answers we are looking for, most of the time his answers come across vague or as hype than anything of substance. This is not really the problem.

This is the problem:

http://www.amiga.com/news/
- no news updates.
- Shouldn't the release of OS4 beta to developers be mention here?

http://www.amiga.com/corporate/exec_update.php
- no updates since 2001!!!

http://www.amiga.com/events/
- AmiGBG should be listed here!!!
- again, not updated since 2001

http://www.amiga.com/products/
- OS4 should be listed here
- AmigaOne is mentioned, but info site not updated in 2 years!

http://www.amiga.com/corporate/
- Is any of the information on this page accurate?

http://www.amiga.com/corporate/investors.shtml
- "[an error occurred while processing this directive]"

Anyways, we're waiting for AmigaInc to resolve these 'issues'. Will they?

That's the point, indeed. Here people think that since there's no "Genesi" listed on that page, then the Pegasos/MOS won't be represented, but they somehow don't apply the same logic to the fact that until today it wasn't sure whether any of Amiga Inc/Hyperion/Eyetech were going. Makes you wonder about how blind can some people be :-)

What I know is that Genesi is evaluating the possibility to go there (so some of the AmiGBG guys told one of the AROS team member).

> Has anyone thought about that, GGSData is the offical swedish Pegasos reseller

How about wanting a huge & sucessful show?

Amiga has turned from a cool alternative computer platform into some kind of exclusive club, not really that open or welcoming to new members. At least that's how a lot of people feel. And if the general population feels that way, the shows will continue to have sparse attendance.

There doesn't appear to be much effort to turn this around. From my point of view "I'm still waiting" for AmigaInc to be open for business.

I'm interested in business development, not just a hobby.

That's why its great that Genesi are promoting a new cool alternative computer platform and development of the marketplace, one that continues the *Amiga spirit*.

Well, so are the AmigaOne and the Pegasos for that matter. At least they do have 68k emulators, so they are that much nearer. But as a replacement for an A4000, they both have a lot of gaps.

AROS is making slow, steady progress IMO, and a demo of it at an Amiga show would be entirely appropriate.
