I'm happy to announce that ANN.lu reached an agreement with Hyperion for the banner space on the vertical navigation bar. The deal is exclusive and long-term, and ANN's banner spaces are once again fully booked. Advertisement banners and Paypal donations ensure the long-term survival of ANN.lu, so I am fortunate to have such strong partnerships with KDH-Datentechnik, Vesalia and now Hyperion. I am also grateful for the select few individuals who donated money via Paypal. Thanks!

2-The simple way to support a website that you like is see the ad/sponsors/banner. |

or perhaps your comment was aimed at the fact that its now a boing ball/red camp/Amiga OS4/hyperion (delete as appropriate) rather than ...oh, lets say, Genesi/MorphOS/blue camp/captain Morph/butterfly?

New advertiser: Hyperion : Comment 20 of 118 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Gregg on 02-Feb-2004 14:41 GMT | Glad ANN has secured long-term funding, and in such an entertaining fashion, too.
As Someone* has decided to highlight this AOS4 information, a couple of requests :
1) Update it.
2) Index, or even a single page, please; having to click through numerous arbitrarily-split pages of text is extremely tedious.
Thanks,
Gregg
* : The bizarre aspect of this ANN ad. is that I don't know to whom to address these requests : Hyperion? Amiga Inc.? - and the answer to that only raises more questions... |

Maybe when AOS4 is launched the hate between the two camps will settle down.
Cheers |

But good work on the latest banner advert, and I think things will look so much better after OS 4 is finally released. |

I doubt if the feature list has changed much over the past 12 months. If the project is at all organised, it should have been frozen about then.
Still, there may be some minor changes, which would be interesting to see. Getting the pre-release out is surely more urgent. |

I suspect the absolute final feature list won't be complete till time of launch. Even the billion dollar software companies don't always release with all the features they say they would.

Why not add a link to the pope, the US president and the Easter Islands? The add purchased by Hyperion certainly covers all that, too. Especially since amigaworld.net is a haven of lively disussions, free exchange of opinions, respects the privacy of its users, and its moderators are always friendly and sensible when they pop up on ann, often praising ann for its good content. |

Posted by Johan Rönnblom on 02-Feb-2004 21:52 GMT | I don't like ads either, but someone has to pay for the servers and a
site with a moderate amount of ads, like ann, is certainly a lot
better than nothing at all. So, good news. |

Posted by Anonymous on 02-Feb-2004 21:52 GMT | In reply to Comment 36 (Anonymous): Matt (Ben Drebben) abused the website. He was told in public to pick one username, to not register false names and don't reply to his own posting.
This was done in public and I understand why as Matt earlier claimed at Amiga.org that sinister things were going on at amigaworld out of the view of the visitors. Amigaworld however has always been very transparent mcuh more than other Amiga covering websites.
He was right though about the sinister stuff but this was his own doing. LOL |

I doubt moobunny or wrongpla.net pay for advertising. So if links to these sites are here, no reason for the other amiga sites to not be here, right? |

Posted by takemehomegrandma on 02-Feb-2004 23:26 GMT | Congratulations ANN, and welcome Hyperion! :-)
(So I guess ANN is "owned" by Hyperion now, and all comments will be moderated with bias, and we all must do an exodus to morphzone ;-P (THAT WAS A JOKE of course, based on almost exactly one year old comments, comments from, let's say "another point of view" ;-) ))
Seriously; ANN is IMO the very best community site on the net. ANN's impact and importance (now as well as during all these many years of ANN's service) should not be underestimated. It simply doesn't exist any other Amiga Community water whole of ANN's format, freedom, news feed, debates, etc, etc. So I really hope that this sponsor deal will help ANN survive and evolve to become even better in the future!
Both thumbs up! :-) |
