I'm happy to announce that ANN.lu reached an agreement with Hyperion for the banner space on the vertical navigation bar. The deal is exclusive and long-term, and ANN's banner spaces are once again fully booked. Advertisement banners and Paypal donations ensure the long-term survival of ANN.lu, so I am fortunate to have such strong partnerships with KDH-Datentechnik, Vesalia and now Hyperion. I am also grateful for the select few individuals who donated money via Paypal. Thanks!

I think it'd be fair let the ANN purists know that the prerelease OS4 cd has been sent out to betatesters now, wouldn't it?
BTW, your agreement also implies that we'll see Mr. Hermans/Frieden bros comeback posting here on ANN?

I think it would be fair to let the general A1 purists know when they will have the OS. That Hyperion's own betatesters have the beta was ... to be exptected. That's why they are called betatesters. I'm surprised that any fuss is made about it by you. Don't they receive regular betas? If not, what do betatesters betatest?

It's not about paying for advertising or not. AmigaWorld.net were removed after their administration and supporters made a number of accusations about ANN and Chris' motivation in running it. They also derided the site openly on numerous occasions, finally reaching the point where Chris decided enough was enough. Since those links are free they are at Chris' discretion, and it should be up to him whether to link to other sites or not.

Eyetech and Hyperion are commercial concerns and should rightly be required to pay for advertising like anyone else does. In this respect they cannot stand comparison to MooBunny or Wrong Pla.net.

I've mentioned often enough why I stopped linking to AW.net, and there's no need to start that discussion again. And none of the links are to actual companies, many are in fact to people and/or websites I like, respect, find useful or was/am in personal contact with.

That being said, maybe it's time to remove Amigafiles.com and GetBoinged.org, seeing how they don't seem to be updated anymore.

It might be gibberish because my English is gibberish but in case you have any doubts about what it means, I'll gladly paraphrase it: I have noticed you on many occasions making remarks designed to upset people (aka trolling). That would make you the ideal person to recognize trolling in another person. Which would be my gibberish statement rephrased. Obviously, it is crititical of you but it was also designed as a joke. I think the "PegPong"'s really were attemts to start constructive discussions, but when trolls did their best to interfere they were not ignored, but answered to like if their comments had any value, and that was a mistake (like it always is). The "PegPong" was a try to make the forums useful for constructive discussions in the community, to debate about new ideas for new products, but it was allways "torpedoed" by certain individuals (probably the same ones), putting a bad spin on it. That is a pity. But what's done is done.

But when you speak about flame fests I agree with you; flame fests have never been desireable to anyone. Nobody would miss those.

-1- Eva has been moderated on a regular basis. I wish we had more admin tools to go further when required. We may have overlooked some comments here and there but most offending /attack / insults posts are moderated.
-2- A LOT of attacks on AmigaINC, AW.NET, Hyperion, Eyetech, ... have been removed (including comments and whole threads).
-3- We are not responsible of people criticizing AW.NET, we can not moderate all these posts as we would be accused of censorship
-4- Christian and I have no problem with AW.NET site or their users. We DID had a problem with a couple of AW.NET moderators creating flames here while criticizing the quality of the site and badmouthing us on other forums.

Regarding point 4, you have personally been attacking the current AW moderators in the past too, both on other forums and here on ANN too, this even before AW became popular. Also they have often only defended theirselves when personally aimed threads were started and were left alone.

No offense intented, but just to show there are more sides to this story and that many people seem to be talking solely from their own point of view without taking into consideration other people´s feelings and believes.

As I said we both had problems with a couple of them. We defended ourselves because of their poor attitudes, never because they were AW.NET admins/moderators. The fact that it happened before they were on AW.NET proove this point. It also explains why some people contest that such people became moderators after failing to impose their views here and on other forums.

Anyway it does not look to be the most important problem for these days. Some people deliberately post under wrong nicknames to start flamewars between the moderators, the users, other site moderators / users. This and a few people who keep insult / attack other people despite previous moderation.

Flame fests are bad. But I wasn't speaking about flame fests, I was speaking about the "PegPongs".

The idea behind the PegPong was quite cool actually. You met on a forum, one part was an executive with interesting ideas and thoughts, all the others were community people, also with interesting ideas and thoughts. For a couple of hours you played "ping pong" with arguments and trying ideas to each other.
:-)

A pity there were some trolls that interfered and did everything they could to destroy it. THEY should have been moderated, not the PegPongs themselves ...

No, many of my "attacks" were defense of myself and ANN and its users and had nothing to do with other sites moderation.
I don't think you can point me to an handfull of "attacks" (or even less or even to find a single one as I don't remember doing such attacks) I did based on other site moderation.
I may have been pissed off the people who claimed to have a clean site while using heavy moderation and coming here flaming.
If I really wanted to attack people I would have done it on their own websites, I would have linked some well chosen ANN threads on their websites to comment on them there. This are exactly these kind of actions that I reproach to these FEW people.
