Some of you might be aware that I signed a full-time employment contract with Genesi S.à.r.l. in Luxembourg to start December 15th 2003. I didn't make an official announcement on ANN because I didn't plan (and expect) it to change anything as far as ANN was/is concerned. I spent most of January 2004 telecommuting from the United States, but unfortunately, not everything worked out the way I had expected it to, and yesterday I handed in my resignation with Genesi. Next Monday, I will be starting at a new job in Luxembourg. Once more, this should not influence ANN in any major way, except that my available time might be more limited, and I will probably not be able to do any moderations or updates during the day.

Posted by AdmV on 06-Feb-2004 11:52 GMT | Christian,
I am somewhat curious about this statement.
1. You have made comments about none payment of advertising by your site on behalf of Genesi.
2. Clearly you were cited as having helped ship Peg2's before Xmas (but not cited at the time as an employee AFAIR)
3. Not stating your employement by Genesi brings into question your role, and the role of your site, and its possible consequences regarding being from from political interference.
4. Are you trying to muddy the waters, or draw a line under the episode, because if its the latter, I am probably not going to be alone in asking questions about what the heck is going on?

Ignore any anonymous trolls and impertinent or stupid questions in this thread. :)
I hope nothing changes and ANN stays a place where MorphOS and AROS and alternative computer systems and any other working, released OS may be covered and discussed freely, within certain broad limits of truthfulness and responsible behavior.
Things happen with employment and companies and there is not always a villainous boss or employee at fault, sometimes you just have to accept it and go on to the next thing which is what it sounds like you are doing. Go for it! |

Priceless. So any unreleased OS cannot be discussed freely, and has no broad limits of truthfulness or responsible behaviour required? ;-)

Genesi has now paid for the duration the banner was running.

My employment with Genesi was mentioned by BBRV in the forums. It was also mentioned on my personal homepage since sometime in January. (I'm not sure when I uploaded it.)
> 3. Not stating your employement by Genesi brings into question your role, and

There never was any political interference. ANN was never part of any employment contract, and I've always run ANN independently of any advertisers or employers.
I've always hoped that my word is enough on that subject, and to those who don't believe that nothing I can say or do is going to change anything.
> 4. Are you trying to muddy the waters, or draw a line under the episode,

My relationship with Genesi is over, and I'm trying to draw a line under the episode without spreading any further bad blood. Frankly, the experience was a frustrating one for me, but for me to go into any other details in public at this point in time seems counter-productive. |

Hi Christian,
isn't it strange that you decided to more or less hide your relationship with Genesi when you got the job and now losing the job, you literally send TV spots on prime time "letting the world now".
Just wondering. |

It would be more than fair to have this "trivial" information on the mainpage of ANN for a couple of day at the same place the banner was before to repair any demage that you've done to Genesi's reputation with the former statement of not receiving payment from them. |
