I found on amigart.com that Chris Young from Unsatisfactory Software realized a site about the programs running on Amiga OS 4.0 Beta and pre-release. It is all based upon his personal experiences and tests. Take a look at this site.

Good job Chris!

We need more people putting up websites listing apps/games that work on the new operating sysems like MorphOS, AROS, OS4, UAE, etc.

Try

Good luck to the AmigaOS4 and MorphOS people who have setup and are contributing to this list.

Very nice idea Chris :-) I'm sure that once the beta is released, the list will grown! ;-)

so long as the list is kept up to date... which could be a very demanding and
time consuming job...as with each kernel and library update non working apps might then work, and working apps might not work. also, every function and choice
might have to be tested in certain apps (particularly graphics apps where
a mathematical code might not work properly etc). but well done none-the-less!

Has anybody checked ImageFX? How about wordsworth, Perfect paint, TV paint,
DeluxePaint 5.0? What about AmigaVision? or Hollywood, or Scala?

I have seen TV Paint and DeLuxePaint 5.0 running on Pegasos-MorphOS at home of one of my friends who just bought a Pegasos II in the Christmas period.

;-)

About AmigaONE-AOS4.0 beta I could give no infos because AOS4.0 is still for the betatesters'eyes only...

You know, I didn't post this here myself because I thought it would end up as a 300 post flame-fest. But that hasn't happened yet and doesn't look like it will, so well done to all of you.

Oh, and the reason I knew this had been posted here was the appearance of wrongpla.net in the list. The comment made me laugh though and being categorised under untested doesn't affect the stats so I'm in no rush to remove it.

However, I would rather things weren't added under "untested" (it is only there as a sensible default, I should probably block submits with it selected), and things that aren't software shouldn't be added at all. I have the power to block IP addresses, but hopefully it won't come to that.

Also note that it works on an add-add basis, you can't overwrite or edit old entries, and anything further down the list has been added more recently so if the OS column says "40b" (4.0beta) then it is likely to be a newer beta. "40p" is for pre-release and "400" will be final (401 will be 4.0 Boing Bag 1, etc). Add your own dots, I'm space-saving. :-)

So if a search for a particular software package has several entries, starting with a rather red-tinged colour at the top, at the bottom it may be orange or green indicating that something has been changed in the OS to cause it to work - or the program itself has been updated, which can be checked with the "version" column (which is why I ask for exact version numbers)

Chris

To begin with ... having FinalWriter97 apps work with OS4.0 on an AmigaOne is "THE" deciding reason to buy for me other wise I will stay with the classic Amiga - period.
Sorry that's the way I see it.

One minor suggestion - when you display all applications or games, can you make it sort the list alphabetically?

You can see Wordworth 7 running in one of the earlier OS4 screenshots :)

Mmm, haven't used Wordworth in so damn long...mostly due to print speeds being damn slow on my current Amiga :)

I too like this program. It's an important piece of software to have. But I seem
to remember being glad as someone (Hyperion? Beta-tester? Don't remember) said
that FW97 did work flawlessly, already a while back. :-)

Folks - Having back compatibility to run old apps may be nice but at some point you have to let it go. I cannot let that be the overriding issue as to whether to buy an A1. If the platform is to succeed we should look forward to new and more glorious programs to do the tasks we want.

You are underestimating the number of man hours required to create something like Imagemaster or DPaint V. There are neither the programmers nor the money available to write all this code again. Each of these has several hundred ARexx commands.

And why re-invent the wheel? If there is a perfectly good functional program already in existence, why start all over again?

It takes several years to develop a good application program.

Exact!

You got the point, man!

I would love to see some all-new programs, but these should be programs of kinds we don't have already, not just another (for instance) collection of standard image-processing algorithms.

HD-Rec is a good example of a new program that actually adds to what you can do on the Amiga.

It is good to see development on existing programs like Pagestream (a Word text filter is imminent) and Audio Evolution. But it would be stupid to start coding another DTP program that does the same things as Pagestream just to have a "new program".
