Little reflection starting from this announce.

"Vesalia informs us that they are delivering again Pegasos II boards since Feburary 28th. If you haven't ordered yet you can still order one as there are still boards left. Please note that the number of G4 boards is limited. If you haven't ordered yet or want to know what the status of your order is please phone Vesalia at +49 2852 9140 15. You can also order on Saturday.

Also Vesalia will present the Pegasos II with MorphOS showing the DVD burning tool BurnItPro and the office package PapyrusOffice this weekend at the Videoboerse in Bremen, Germany" (Morphos-news.de)

This strange type of delivering leads to these "little" problems ...

What about the people that bought it directly from Genesi?

What about those ppl that bought it from Genesi other official dealers (prepaying it partially or totally)?

What about all those resellers worldwide that now will have to wait Genesi to obtain "oneday" boards that they preordered months ago and that now see their customers buy directly from Vesalia or calling them for the boards they prepayed ??

Get'em while they are hot. They are going, going, gone.
Once gone , they are gone forever.

Vesalia is not the only dealer who got boards. At least GGS-data also
got some. I believe people who ordered directly are also getting
theirs, but I've no first hand info on that.

I ordered directly, but so far no tracking number has been sent. Luckily MOS 1.4.2 came out an hour ago.. at least something :)

don't ever prepay for a board in this market...shame on everyone who did that.

If Genesi cannot afford to make boards in advance of payment, then they can't afford to be a player in the PPC market.

I wouldn't say its a high risk thing...it almost seems to me , no to be a risk at all...if you buy a pegasos, you will lose your investment...period. But that is a slight overstatement, it is merely high risk, to be fair.

It takes time (good things...) but I haven't heard of a single user who has lost the investment. How could that even be possible, with the option to reverse credit card payments so easily?

I can't say :(
I know only that 2 ppl that preordered in December on Pegasosppc.com site continue to wait (after received the confirmation mail) and that the italian dealer ... cannot distribute anything (same apply in USA, for example).
Really not a good market thing.
Come on Genesi, come on: Pegasos2 cannot be a collection machine for years!

Don, the board are outhere. We are not talking on some 2001 announce, Ok?
Thew prob is that ACTUALLY those boards are not derectly distribuited by Genesi ... and so a lot of Genesi official resellers will have to tell to their customers "When ... we joked when we told you that you would receive your board in March".
This is not a fun happening to see board avaiable in quantities in Germany and Scandivian places and 0 in countries like Italy, france, USA, Australia and so on.

PS
I'm talking about G4 powered Pegasos2! For the G3 no problem.

PPS
Anyway it's clear, after some #morphos talk that all depends from Genesi lack of liquidity. Aka, they are asking to their resellers to PREPAYED ALL their G4 machines.
A shame.

all this situation was already written, Eva!
My personal suggestion is. . . .DON'T pay nothing in advance to nobody, NEVER (blue, red or purple).
The above statements is for FREE . . . today ;-)

Ok, it's not Vesalia's picture, but new PegII's have been made and have shipped to resellers.

Personally I wouldn't prepay anything.

It's not because I don't trust the Amiga companies but even though they have good intentions they can run into economical problems (just see Phase5 or Genesi recently).

I would preorder though and even consider to sign a binding contract for buying a certain product if that was needed.

Luckily my A1-G4 was ready to pickup the day after I ordered it, no waiting time or paying in advance :-)

Choose a dealer that doesn't ask for pre-payments then! :-)

I have in total bought four Pegasos motherboards from GGS Data during
the last 1.25 year, and I have never had to make a pre-payment. They
also have computers in stock now (from the February production run),
and delivery sure is fast!
