Since 2004-01-19, A native MOS dnet client was availabe for the
public. And the happy
cracking begun...
And now nearly 2 months later we reached 105358 Blocks. And that
means, we are only two days away, to leave the PPC equipped Amigas
behind us. To bad actually I really would have had a nice competition,
but it seems there are realy few PPC Amigas left, much worser, there
seems to even no OS 4.0 dnet client.
Anyway, many of the MOS clients are cracking for Team200 "Amiga"
anyway, and hopefully there will be some more joining.
And btw, hope to see MOS 1.5 soon, this should give an enormous
Speedup to the dnet crew, as with MOS 1.5, Altivec Support is enabled
:-)

Posted by takemehomegrandma on 15-Mar-2004 15:53 GMT | In reply to Comment 1 (hooligan/dcs): What's the fun in racing? ;-)
Actually, I joined mainly because I wanted to test my home made cooling solution for my G4. It has been running non-stop at 100% for almost two weeks now, and it runs very cool!
But then I kind of got stuck in this "racing" effort, and I kept the client going to make a contribution to the platform stats. It's actually kind of fun, and I check the stats on the stats-page every day!
You should install the client too! You can have it running in the background to use up all idle CPU time that would go "wasted" otherwise!

Just think about all those poor CPU cycles that would just die the horrible *idle death*, an empty life completely in vain, without having the chance of making a difference in this world!!!
:-O
No, give them a meaningful beeing, let their short lives mean something, and let their sacrifice make a difference!

Posted by takemehomegrandma on 15-Mar-2004 16:09 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (Dirk-B): Are you talking about the links? I simply left any HTML code out and just pasted the link as pure text. The "ann engine" then makes the link active. Note that this only goes for comments, if you are posting a new "news item" you must use correct HTML code for everything you do.
(Speaking about this, wouldn't it be nice with a "preview" button in the "add comment" page?) |

"there seems to even no OS 4.0 dnet client."
AmigaOS4.0 is not out an bbr is trying to stop it from coming out, we AmigaOne owner invested cash on the computer, and you take pride in writing propaganda. |

Ok, it is not with AmigaOS for the moment, but
what, it is alot faster then on my A1260/G2. :) |

Posted by JKD on 15-Mar-2004 17:56 GMT | In reply to Comment 11 (Kjetil): Unfortunately a lot of people took a lot of criticism when they said 'Amiga OS4.x is years away.' (Some of them bought a Pegasos, some of them just left.) These people, however, have been proven right and the temptation to say 'I told you so, is far, far too great' especially the level of personal attacks that were around at the time.*
Fact - AOS4.x is not publically released.
Fact - There is no publically available AOS4.x dnetc client
Conjecture - when AOS4.x is publically available there will likely be a dnetc client version for it.
Fact - in the public domain, Genesi has stated that they would like to see AOS4.x on the Pegasos platform.
Question - how does this publically widespread statement match with your flamebait that 'they' are trying to stop AOS4.x coming out?
Steve
P.S. * I told you so :P (No hard feelings eh?) |

Posted by Christian Kemp on 15-Mar-2004 18:06 GMT | In reply to Comment 9 (takemehomegrandma): In this case, the HTML didn't work because it was spread across two lines. ANN should have basic routines to handle both HTML links and text-only links, but only if they are well-delimited and not on multiple lines.
As for adding new features: comment previews would be fairly trivial to add, if I didn't have more urgent work to do elsewhere. |

Posted by takemehomegrandma on 15-Mar-2004 19:30 GMT | In reply to Comment 17 (Dirk-B): (This is only a parenthesis to avoid any misunderstandings: Of course
you are part of the Amiga platform, that's not what I meant, what I
meant was that your keys will be registered as PPC/Linux platform,
plus the Amiga RC5 team, and last but not least for you as an
individual, that's all! "Amiga" is a state of mind! :-) Another thing
was that PPC/Linux is *really* far ahead, and hardly within reach!) |

that is the most importend thing. |

Posted by Ferry on 16-Mar-2004 10:04 GMT | Hi all.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this matter, but I do not understand these numbers...
"PowerPC/Amiga OS 109,795 42 1
PowerPC/MorphOS 109,153 3,795 here we go!
"
What do they mean? How can it be PowerPc/Amiga? Are they meaning PPC cards on Classic Amigas? What does that '1' means -109795 blocks in 1 day!!??? Not possible, isn't it?
Saluditos,
Ferrán. |

Posted by Anonymous on 16-Mar-2004 11:11 GMT | In reply to Comment 29 (Ferry): Yes PPC Card equipped classic Amigas are meant.
109,795 means the total Number of Blocks cracked by this System
42 is the number of Blocks cracked for this day.
1 Is the Number of Days it will take for MOS to pass this System,
for PPC Amiga that means, bye bye tomorrow. |
