A few days ahead of the release of Amiga Forever 6.0, Cloanto released Amiga Explorer 6.0. A few days ahead of the release of Amiga Forever 6.0, Cloanto released Amiga Explorer 6.0. The new version of Amiga Explorer, which is compatible with AmigaOS 4.0, is now available for free evaluation download from www.amigaforever.com/ae/ (a small preview of the new Amiga Forever site). The same file can also be used to upgrade previous versions. Amiga Explorer 6.0 is set to be available in a stand-alone package and as part of Amiga Forever 6.0.

It also works with MorphOS now without crashing.

It could be useful every now and then. :-)

As work on Amiga Explorer 6.0 was not done in "free time" (unless all Amiga work counts as "free time" :-), you are probably confusing this with Amiga Explorer 3.X and 4.X source code being shared with some very friendly and competent external developers (Jeffrey, Stéphane, Denis and Ralf come to mind). That is unrelated from Amiga Explorer 6.0, which does not contain a single line of such external code, last but not least because none was available in time for this release. One AmigaOS 4.0 PPC conversion contribution, based on such older Amiga Explorer code, is waiting to be merged into the main project once a new A1 development system is in place. Another external contribution may result in improved serial port error recovery over noisy lines and bad cables.

Hi Cloanto,
is there a possibility for a Mac OSX Jaguar/Panther version of AmigaForever?

Hello Ronald... Yes, Amiga Forever 6.0 includes a ready to run configuration for Mac OS X. It's not yet as good as the Windows version, but you can expect support for Mac OS X to improve as Richard Drummond's UAE port evolves to replace the previous (excellent, but a bit dated) work by Alexander Kazik.

In reply to Comment 4 (Ronald St-Maurice):
Furthermore, Amiga Forever 6.0 has videos in Apple QuickTime-compatible MPEG-4. This was chosen instead of Windows Media 9 for maximum cross-platform compatibility. See http://www.amigaforever.com/kb/3-176.html

Any chance of a Linux/FreeBSD version? It'd be *much* appreciated by me!

In reply to Comment 7 (Simon):
Linux binaries are included too, ready to run (runs fine on Debian, Knoppix, etc.) This is unlike previous versions of Amiga Forever, where you had to do some manual configuration work. There will even be a little surprise on this front... ;-)
