I'm pissed. I don't know how else to say it. I willingly participated in the "I Am Amiga" club for the sole purpose of helping Amiga to further AmigaOS, and now I find out that they didn't even OWN AmigaOS when I sent them my money! What right did they have in taking my money under this false pretense? I will never trust anyone in this community again with my money, everyone has turned out to be nothing but liars.

Ever heard the phrase "...and then there was AROS" =) how about joining a REAL open community project instead? nothing to loose there.

Is that you bbrv?

Take some responsibility for yourself.

If you've sent money to them in the last few months and expected anything than you're a moron.

I think that the chances of the starter of this thread actually having purchased anything from Amiga Inc. are very low.

Maybe KMOS will have some capability with T-Shirts, lol!

I must assume that the responsibility for OS4 coupons, etc, will have passed onto KMOS as well, although getting this cleared up might be a good idea.

I don't know, although I don't think many would have given money to Amiga Inc, if they had known that Amiga Inc didn't own AmigaOS.

Right now, Genesi actually have more to do with AmigaOS than Amiga Inc. Genesi sell hardware potentially capable of running it, Amiga inc have no ties whatsoever.

True, but KMOS now have more to do with AmigaOS than Genesi, and Hyperion certainly do. I'm sure that most people are happy that Amiga Inc. and their mixed up policies regarding everything are now out of the picture.

As long as KMOS don't turn around and simply kill the AmigaOS stuff (unlikely, as people such as Hyperion appear to be very happy with this new deal) anyway.

Looks like you've missed the news over the past day. KMOS LLC bought the rights for AmigaOS from Amiga Inc. Whether or not they are a holding company or not, it gets what most Amigans are interested in away from Amiga Inc, but not into the hands of bbrv or Microsoft, and current development and agreements are still valid and fine. I'm sure that most people are happy that Amiga Inc. and their mixed up policies regarding everything are now out of the picture.

Are they? We don't know what/who KMOS are (or even IF and WHY they are).
KMOS doesn't necessarily have to be much more than an AInc afterthought, a list of names (well, one name so far) invented to separate assets from AInc and keep creditors from getting what they're owed when it's time to jump ship and file for bankruptcy.

It's too early to tell.

As long as KMOS don't turn around and simply kill the AmigaOS stuff (unlikely, as people such as Hyperion appear to be very happy with this new deal) anyway.

There was ominous sounding stuff about a contract involving Eyetech. If that means that the current compulsory "Amiga hardware" licensing/bundling idiocy is still in place, then AmigaOS has already been killed. Just like before this last weekend. But we still don't know what that contract says.

Hyperion "appearing happy" means nothing. They have "appeared happy" no matter what twists and turns AInc have done during their years at the helm. (Or "during their years of lying drunk on the deck somewhere near the helm they bought".) That's nothing specific for Hyperion, if you're unhappy in business you don't necessarily let the world know this, especially not on a corporate fansite (I haven't seen them comment on a real site yet).

When the SCAM was set up the assets were not transferred. You would have had to have paid for your SCAM membership last summer for this to be true.

Or, as you prefer, maybe I'm at the end of a T1 line in an insane asylum? (Having cleverly lifted a key from an orderly, successfully snooped a user ID and PW off a shrink here, and have snuck into the computer room, I am now running amok in the cyberworld.)

I do appreciate the work of the AROS team. I've used it a few times, even way back when it was a lot younger. Fabio is quite anti-AmigaOS though, or at least the posts of his that I have seen tend to be.

Being anti-Amiga Inc ... fine, they've been totally useless for the entirity of their existence, despite being interested in the AmigaOne and AmigaOS4 (and disappointed that it took longer, but I understand why). An awkward stance to take because the 'Red Side' think you are anti-Amiga, and the 'Blue Side' think you are a 'red' still.

' I willingly participated in the "I Am Amiga" club for the sole purpose of helping Amiga to further AmigaOS, and now I find out that they didn't even OWN AmigaOS when I sent them my money! What right did they have in taking my money under this false pretense?'

I'm sorry but Amiga Inc. did provide updates and did interface with the developers for the purpose of informing the public of AmigaOS4.x. Fleecy, also, answered quite a few questions. Thus, your Amiga Inc was out of the loop statement isn't necessarily correct. You did get their messages and area for the $50 and I assume the $50 off a new AOS4.0 system will still apply for you. Thus, the sky isn't falling as bad as you think. Just sit back there's little us end users can do right now. But, don't renew if you don't think the program is bringing you any value.

While Amiga has my $50 I guess I just have more complex problems in my life and world to worry about. So, count yourself lucky if this is your largest problem.
