As at 25 April, the AmigaShare website has been released to a select number of Amigans for testing the Phase I functionality. As at 25 April, the AmigaShare website has been released to a select number of Amigans for testing the Phase I functionality.

The test period will conclude on 30 April. Then, on 1 May, the site will have its official release to the entire community. Meanwhile, AmigaShare is now available for all to view in a 'limited functionality and access' mode.

"We are excited by what we are hearing within the Amiga community and the positive emails we have received. It’s obvious everyone understands what we are trying to achieve and our focus on the new OS4 technology. Mostly, we are looking forward to getting feedback on the website itself and using this phase I to set the direction for its evolution. So, please come visit us soon.", says Chris Nillissen, co-founder of AmigaShare.com.

Perhaps this link to amigashare works better? The one given above tries to resolve the URL within ann.lu domain for me...

While I'm here, one word of advice : "Excited" is a rather over-abused word in the Amiga community these days - maybe something like "all a-tremor" would be more easily digested?

Maybe if you didn't sound so grumpy people would take you more seriously. I know, I suffer from the same problem. Here's an idea: Tell them what you feel is WRONG, then maybe they can correct those problems (and stamp a copy of your corrections (mirrored) on the forehead of all their developers so they don't do THAT again).

Remember there is no css capable browser for AmigaOS 3.x or AMIGAOS 4.0 (ie TARGET OF THIS PAGE)

Rather pretentious isn't it?

I thought this site was only for OS4 users, which is maybe 0.0001% of the Amiga community. When you start catering for OS2.x/3.x/Amithlon/MorphOS/Aros users too, then maybe you could say it.

Everyone has an opinion of the Amiga comunity. And OS4+A1 at least is 50% to 99% of the comunity, it depends on what you consider Amiga. Anyway not less than 50% :-P

I dont agree with you at all. AmigaShare's Software Library system seem to cater for AmigaOS 1.x and higher. It seems logical to me that their focus seems to be Amiga OS 4 as this is the future. No point living in the past!!!

I think the "Amiga" community really has a identity crisis on its hands. I dont believe that MorphOS users are part of the Amiga community, there use of Calssic OS application yes, but other then that they are part of the MorphOS Community.

The only relation that MorphOS has with the Amiga Community is that it emulates Amiga Classic Application. The same might apply with the AROS.

Therefore there are three seperate communities. The Amiga Community, The MorphOS Community, and the AROS community. If this doesnt happen the we have a real crisis on our hands.

THE ONLY THING that makes a MORPHOS user part of the Amiga community is there usage of Amiga Classic Applicationsnot there usage of MorphOS!

Indeed. What I was hinting at is that in Opera, it comes out blue. The CSS says black, the font tag says dark grey. Opera renders it blue. So what EXCACTLY is the point of having TWO tags if the browser ends up doing something else entirely?

I would say writing HTML 3.2 final or 4.0 transitional without CSS is a good plan if your target is Amiga browsers. Just mixing and matching something that is a bit of both worlds is NOT a good plan.
And running it through a validator doesn't excactly hurt.

And, of course, the same for OS4. All three have a re-implementation of the old AmigaOS API for compatibility with old apps.
