AAUG (Arizona Amiga Users Group) Displays Amiga Forever 6.0!

As President of the Club I demoed Amiga Forever 6.0 - generating probably a couple of sales.

Since I forgot to bring my power cord for my Toshiba Satellite Laptop I only had approx 1 hour or so of battery time.

After getting set up and using a projector to display the output on a white chalkboard - it appeared that a main feature was playing Ports of Call!

A certain member marveled at the times when they played this (new - at the time) game for up to 27 hours straight!

Most likely at least several sales will result and next meeting(s) the demos will be played. The Lincoln Center Intro to The Amiga will be demoed at our next meeting.

GREAT meeting - this wil keep us busy for at least several months.

It's great isn't it?

Have you tried out different kinds of networking from the knoppix-distro?

Well if you boot from it you get it running AmigaOS on top of Knoppix. I was just wondering if networking ran well and supported whatever you use on it.

And all you demoed was showing how to play "Ports of Call"...

Instead to show how is good Amiga emulated environment...

...in browsing sites full of of pop-ups

and

the use

of YAM

as mailer even for the PC side...

to avoid any virus?

How sad and pitiful demoing...

Does anyone know how to configure the settings for UAE on the Knoppix distro?

I.e, set up my old harddrive directory on it from the PC, or install KX lite on the harddrive itself?

There doesn't seem to be much about configuration in the docs.

True, but I hate to think of how many hours (days? weeks? months?) I've spent playing Ports of Call and it was the first game I loaded when I got AF6 :-)

Classic game.

Actually I started on the left hand side of the AF screen on top of WB.

Went thru the tags (showing the systems etc emulated) and worked over to the games (most right hand tag).

Another member was playing with it and started with Ports of Call.

Everyone appreciate and was impressed with the demo. Especiually showing WB 1.3 while loading gamnes.

How sad and pitiful you could not comprehend the obvious.

Kind of my point - or actually other members who got into the game when someone started playing it.

Probably one of the best "software" purchases I made in a long time. And hopefully other members of AAUG will purchase the same. And help developers get some funding - after all it is "just around the corner".....(Couldn't resist).

That was meant to say on top of Windows. (NOT WB).

YAM Mailer for the PC side? Don't understand - you mean the program that takes YAM mail and makes it compatible with Outlook Express?

Well, I intended to use YAM as an alternative mailer...

You could use it on the emulated Amiga environment

to avoid Viruses on the PC side by checking contents and names of the uuencoded attachments...

...and both you can also check for the spam just on the server and delete it...

and by the way... when you save mail from YAM

in .TXT... when you are sure it is safe...

...then you can import it on the PC side, by simply renaming it .EML and making it compatible with Outlook Express with this simple procedure...

If it was another who started playing, instead to show pratical things, then I must made my excuses to you...

My apologies.

P.S.: Ports of Call was a great game...
Sometimes it was repetitive, but it was style-of-the-art in those days.

As for myself - I use YAM as my ONLY mailer. I have it set up the way I like it (approx 100 folders for various lists etc) - and am so used to it I see no reason to change and use anything else. Won't even consider using OUtlook Express or other MS garbage.

Plus I now can get my e-mail when I am out on the road using my laptop.

That is why I use YAM - no worry about viruses and all those attachments I constantly get.

Well thank you. I really like to show off this program as it is WELL worth the $60 and I for one want others to buy it. I am glad to know that my purchase will help Amiga developers.

Ports of Call STILL is a great game.

Sometimes the classics can never wear out their welcome - kind of like the same reason Monopoly is still around as a board game after 70 so years.
