I like your Ambient desktop! :-)

My taste exactly; lean, clean and tidy. Nice color selections too. Perhaps a bit hard to read the icon texts in the windows, but it looks great in all other aspects IMHO!
:-)

MUI GUI for VIM could be better...

Why not assemble all these minor news you've been posting lately, and submit ONE real news item every few weeks, instead of what seems to have evolved into a trickle of news tidbits once every day or two?

Feel free to delete it (since it's your place and I obviously abused my privileges as visitor) but please let me know before you remove this whether I am allowed to continue promoting changed stuff or not. So I don't make the mistake again ever posting something to places where it's not wanted.

You know I am doing this stuff for fun. To give a signal to people that not everything is stagnating, that there are people still careing a lot for this community and that people actually to something. Taking their future in their own hands instead waiting for others to do all this.

I kindly request useful information in such promotion (for example, what features were added to tidy and VIM?). Without that, the bi-weekly "XYZ has been updated for MorphOS" message is somewhat pointless.

Agreed. Software authors are very welcome to post news about milestones in their applications - but the result of a one-hour coding session (just an example) hardly justifies a new submission if there has been a similar one the day before... ANN is not Aminet Recent.

There's also something to be said about "too much news". If there's ten news items about minor bugfixes, chances are high the one big news item about a major update is ignored because people stopped caring after a few unimportant updates...

oGALAXYo, this is not really a complaint - I merely brought it up because it disturbs me, as an individual; and I wanted to get some more opinions from other visitors rather than just acting on my own... Sadly, it seems these days, I can't do anything without people looking for ulterior motives in any single small thing I say or do.

I use ANN as "Aminet" .. I think it's good way to inform users a new version can be downloaded somewhere. Too much news? F*ck it.. "Display 50" latest newsitems oughta be enough for everyone.

@ oGALAXYo
please dont over-react.

I agree with
>If there's ten news items about minor bugfixes, chances are high the one big news >item about a major update is ignored because people stopped caring after a few >unimportant updates

so please post every important update AND a summery of small updates every now and then (or allow someone else to do that).

btw
Thanks for your work.

@Galaxy:

I think this format (all information in one post) might be better then say individual posts for each tidbit. Seeing as I use MOS Vim (for example), I think it's a great to know when new versions are available.

Perhaps when you have several bits of news to post you should compile them in a single post being: "Galaxy's website update"? IE: Max of one post on this subject per day?

Another tip would be, if your previous "combined" news item is still displayed in the top 10-20 posts, then you can always add a comment to that if new updates are available? (IE: only post a new news items on updates after your previous one isn't on the first page?) That way, you can post more information more often without creating seperate news items?

Just a suggestion...

P.S.
Thanks for the software. :)
