A support page for MorphOS SDL development has been launched. You can track history, download sources and various precompiled ports here, just as well as you can send feedbacks and bug reports. There are many projects around using the widespread Simple Directmedia Layer, which is under active development for AmigaOS and MorphOS. The downloads at the site with short english descriptions and pictures are to encourage development and porting of SDL applications.

As SDL is in active development, even the ports of otherwise "final" releases may contain bugs, so reporting them and providing feedback to developers is highly encouraged.

(Some of the ports require components which will be publicly available in MorphOS 1.5.)

The site is maintained by LouiSe, and a great deal of efforts went into it. Many thanks!

Only one small beef with the site, you might want to consider reducing the 2 banners on the top of the page, they are rather large, otherwise the site is clear, and looks good.

Cheers

You only have to wait for MorphOS 1.5. No, it won't come out "very soon now", I hope it will come out a bit earlier.

The opportunity is open to write your own :) Using SDL it will be pretty easily portable, so I say, go for it :)

The stories i can come up with, the coding i can do, however, i couldn't draw a straight line even if my life depended on it :( (And i'm even worse with music!)

I actually have been toying with the idea of an "rpg maker" like tool with support for as much platforms as possible, but i've not started on such a thing yet, maybe i should get of my (extremely) lazy ass :)

There are alot more then just those, just visit rpgone.net(?), loads of really good RPG's, sadly the better ones rarely make it into an English (or other parseble language for me) version.

Tales of Phantasia is one of my favourites, excellent story, and (for it's time) splendid gfx & sound.

Thanks for the tip but I don't like very much Japanese style (although we have a GameCube that has some excellent games...). I haven't played graphical RGPs lately, maybe Dungeon Master 2 and Liberation being the latest. I like rogue-like games, but about those mentioned above, I think ZAngband & ToME are nicest to get into...NetHack is weird and I always die because of starvation in ADOM and NH...

Last i heard OpenGL was ported to AOS4, same for SDL, no clue about how tightly they are integrated.

So, yes, SDL is available for AOS (it's even mentioned on the main sdl website), but this site caters for MOS ports, perhaps they will expand it to include AOS, perhaps not, and someone else will do such a site (or use AmigaShare.com eg).

Cheers

Don't worry about it. Comment 21 is a blatant troll, that's all.

SDL is already ported to AmigaOS (Classic, as in pre-OS4) and also to AROS. OpenGL isn't fully available for either AFAIK, though you may get some joy with MiniGL or Mesa.

Talk of AmigaOS 4.0 ports is premature, since it has not yet been released to the public. When it is, I'm sure someone will do the ports.

Don't worry.

If OS4 SDL does have OpenGL support from start, then I'm sure that sooner or later projects in that MOS SDL page will be ported to OS4.

We can just wait and let MOS people do the hard work, we can then just port MOS versions to OS4 :)

Ah, but look who you are asking for it in advance of. If you were asking for it in advance of Hyperion, or you, or other AmigaOS4 developers who have access to these pre-release copies (have they actually been shipped yet?), then I'd understand, but you are asking for support from people who don't have AmigaOnes or pre-release AmigaOS4 either. Duh!

Supply these people with the hardware and software, and then you have a right to ask for support. Otherwise, I'd say that rather than bleating at the lack of AmigaOS4 support it would be better if people got their fingers out of their backsides and did the work themselves.

Sometimes I don't understand you people. Why encourage blatant trolling?
