Don't know wether you just lack the understanding, or if you added lots of wishfull thinking ....

Here is a short summary of the actual content:

Achim has given the sources to an external developer.
This unnamed guy (or maybe gal ;) ) will attempt an OS4-port of the current DA.
Achim doesn't know how long the port will take, and betatesting won't fall into his responsibilty.
There will definitly NO new version of DA.
If the OS4-port is successfull, it will be uploaded to Aminet as a drop-in replacement for registered DA-users.
He had sold (allmost ?) no copies of DA in the last months, but it will stay on sale since he sees the possibilty to sell a few copies onces OS4 is released.

In reply to Comment 1 (Kronos):
I would expect the existing 68k version to work perfectly well on AOS4. It works on Amithlon.

The only advantage of a compile for PPC would be that the displays would come up a bit faster.

Digital Almanac is an excellent program and certainly worth buying as it is now.

If you get slow down, disconnect reconnect and renew the IP address!!

Amithlon emulates custom chips don't it?

anyway I expect it to work sines it look like system friendly program! and is probely not dependent on the custom chips, if it uses the custom chips it will not work.

"Amithlon emulates custom chips don't it?"

No, it doesn't. Every program that runs on Amithlon should run on AOS4, if there are no bugs in the 68k emulator.

In reply to Comment 1 (Kronos):
Yes you are right Kronos I apologize for the incorrect report.

Unfortunately I don't speak german, so when I read:

«Astronomie: Portierung von DA III für AmigaOS 4.0»

I didn't read the article and reported badly the news basing from the title and from the author whose name and site I know.

Sorry.

Next time I will translate it first with Google or some other translation services.

Indeed you all must admit the title of the news was confusing...

Because if you wrote title in german saying:

«Astronomie: Portierung von DA III für AmigaOS 4.0»

Certainly now, with the wisdom coming from past experience made, it is clear that they are talking about the "work in progress"

"portierung"

While a job ALREADY done is indicated by

"portieret"

Or so it seems judging in my ignorance... ;-)

BUT

If they had wrote something indicating "negative" such as

"keine" which means not more (or something similar)

At least if they had writing something similar (or better a more explicative title) I could had a CLUE in the title, keeping me an alert to not posting wrong or erroneous news

Must study german also... eheheheheh
