Ok, now I'm just waiting for another news item when the CD's are
actually mailed out to the developers (rather than just lying in a
box), and one when someone actually received it.

Sorry, but I'm a bit bored with these "OS4 ready, except not"
newsitems. If it's actually true this time then VERY good.

Hebrews 11:13
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.

Some people have been waiting a long time and so now want to follow ever bit of progress until they recieve OS4 pre-release. I see no problem with that, if anything it is to be expected from a small community that is so use to seeing things fail rather than succeed.

Interesting... When OS4 has been shipped is a spam, why "Pegasos boards shipped" news isn't?
If you aren't interested in OS4 why are you reading the news item? I think the "MorphOS gets metioned..." news were really spam, not like this one.

I tentatively schedule to barf in an imminent but undetermined future if someone posts one more thing about this pre-beta-pre-developer-pre-gold-'hey-we-still-haven't-even-decided-on-fundamentals'-pre-whatever release.

Make the product.
Let 'developers' (i.e. people who bought obsolete hardware and already payed for the 99% done software up to TWO YEARS ago) download time-limited previews while waiting for the real product.
Let people buy the product.

Oh yah, people won't be allowed to buy it without giving three-hundred-dollar handouts to an irrelevant hardware shop, which can't plan any further than to skin a thousand people who seem to believe in 'new Amigas'. Waste of time. What a farce.

(Insert dancing banana here.)

The real question is how many people other than already-onboard early adaptors will be using *either* MOS or AOS4 in a year or two. I like the Pegasos/MOS|altOS prospects better myself, but both projects are long shots, like most startups. None of these companies is close to making money, I'd guess, so it's way too early for anybody to be smug.

It's always so funny to watch peoples reactions. It is so so so hard to
find a positive word as soon as we get a few lines about AOS 4.
These forums get these 50 plus more news updates every day so it should
be better to save space for all other major news, right?
Jealous is the word.

Let's see how long they will ship to the other side of the world, and how many of them are broken in the process :)

You think so? Check the posts in this thread once more. They seem to be about evenly split between positive and negative. (Did you miss the "looks nice," etc.?)

Jealous is the word.

I think you're being too sensitive. Very few care that much.

The important thing at this stage is to stay out of debt. Profits, as you say, are a more distant possibility.

Everyone in the Amiga market would make more money selling pizzas.

CDs don't break easily. I have had plenty of music CDs shipped across the Atlantic with no breakages. Polycarbonate is a tough plastic.

I can hardly understand why a link to some pictures can make anyone to complain... :¬/ Even more when there isn't a single statement about availability or shipment or anything... just some pictures.

Too much people with too much spare time, I guess...

On a side note, I can clearly remember pictures of motherboards been packaged, ready to be sent, don't remember the brand. It was interesting to see, nothing more, nothing less.

Bogus announcements ? So you claim this is NOT the picture of the OS 4 CD ?

I am all so sick with this. Reporting two OpenSource-ports by the same person to MorphOS in two seperate (!) posts is newsworthy, but posting pictures of the first AmigaOS update since ages isn't ???

ANY port to ANY of our platforms is worth a post, as well as these pictures or any news regarding OS4, or AROS, or MOS. I'm sure that it will we far easier porting it from AOS to AROS or viceversa than porting it from Windows. Or perhaps is our market soooo big that we can waste any effort? Hey, you have chose another option different to mine? Perfect then! Let's see how we can help each other!

But it seems that some people must convince themselves that they have done the correct choice, a kind of self-affirmation, by attacking people who has chosen another alternative. Perhaps they are not so sure of their choice...

Aynway, congrats to os4 team for going this far. I'll be waiting for some balanced reviews.

I'm not complaining about the "newsworthiness" or saying that CK
should delete the item or anything. I'm just saying that it's pathetic
to keep making announcement after announcement after announcement..
rather than just wait those 2 more weeks until it's actually done.
That is.. if you really believed in those 2 weeks yourself in the
first case. Otherwise it's even more sad.

I've never seen any threads about the MorphOS packaging, maybe there
has been (Jobbo surely has made a good job!) but if there were such
threads before the damn thing was released and people pretended that
everything's alright because they now have another announcement to be
happy about for two weeks until the next announcement, I'd consider
that pathetic as well. And I did criticise the premature announcement
of the Peg2, even though that was just a few weeks, compared to
several years in this case.

But as I've said so many times before, if something is actually
released for public use and abuse then that's absolutely great. Will
surely make some people more constructive. And we could also do actual
comparisons of whos PPC stack performs better rather than just
comparing stuff that doesn't exist yet.

If you don't like it, just don't look at it! Ignore the news item! It's easy! Just pass over it! Just say: "Next news item, please!", and you will be served!

Im just amazed you didn't mention t-shirts.

"But as I've said so many times before, if something is actually

The point is, you pitched in before you actually read the item ( you aren't the only one ), the news item is just showing off the pictures of the packaging ( which no one else has seen yet ) rather than making an announcement or an announcement about an announcement.

As for abuse, there is plenty of that hurled at AOS4, Hyperion and the "mugs" and "fanatics" that are waiting for it.
