Just a quick update!

Firstly, Steffen Haeuser has kindly handed us his ports of the following applications, compiled to run natively on OS4:

Stella, xMame, xMess, xCPMame and xNEOMame

They are all freely available at softwarelibrary.amigashare.com Secondly, we have been working hard at getting the new layout and cleaner look finished, We hope to have this completed this by the end of the weekend or early next week.

Lastly, we are also working hard on the sponsorship program and hope to have this up and ready within the next couple of weeks.

I've tried to register, but the confirmation mail hasn't arrived yet (waited 30 minutes).

Why aren't downloads available without registering?

Maybe to find out how many users that download a file, and not the number of downloads as total, I don't know, It's easer to track things thats for shore.

Woohoo!

Innovative webdesign, but anyone else think the multi-column layout (for the actual 'products,' once you're in a category) is a bit headache-inducing? Seems like an effort to make icons of text, and it's a little disorienting (both because it's 'unfamiliar,' and because you actually have to 'think' about which direction to read in... It took me weeks to adapt to TheRegister and TheInquirer's layouts, and they use variable-height articles to try to hint they're in columns)...

Not now :-D I'm pretty sure that MOS version is faster, at least yet.

The OS4 SDL are going to be rewritten with a large speedup, and also the Picasso96 isn't PPC in the prerealse. These 2 things change a lot in performance.

Anyway... that's why i'm interested how it performs. If the MorphOS version would use SDL it would be slower too.

So if SoulEdge runs with xMame on OS4 now then please make a photo. Thank you.

i didn't limited it. I just mentioned that current mame for morphos was just build with 2.95.3 and not with a 3.x gcc (which could result in ca. 5% speed increase according to the author).

The OS 4 version is using 2.95.3 too. At least last time I tried (0.79.1) xMame did not build completely with gcc 3.x (The V60/V70 CPU Emulations would not compile with gcc 3.x back then, no clue if it has been fixed).

IMHO there is BTW no reason why a SDL version should be slower than the non-SDL-version, unless:

- the SDL-usage is "badly coded"

or

- the SDL-port for the OS in question is not optimized in a good way
(the SDL for OS 4 is still a Beta version, BTW, I am not sure right now
if it already includes hardware (Blitting) acceleration). But it will be
enhanced still. Games are already nicely playable anyways (though I never
used xMame to play highend games like Soul Edge with it).

have you checked it since yesterday? Its changed, its not multi columned anymore. Lots of other changes are on there way, like the details form, is getting a major overhaul. You should like the design!
