Updated utility not for 68k, OS4, AROS, UAE or Amithlon... also not for p.OS. if i'm right only one possibility is left, or? :) CPU Monitor 1.3 for MorphOS

changes since 1.0:

* fixed refresh bug (thx. to itix for solution)
* added vertical grid
* removed a small memory leak
* added DONOTACTIVATE tooltype
* added NOSIZEGADGET tooltype
* added BORDERLESS tooltype + additional required functionality
* internal cleanups and improvements

If you think it's worth to make a little break from ann.lu and give it a try then download it from here. If you don't have MorphOS (yet) then you can watch a screenshot which shows the improved possibilities.

regards,
tokai

yes, it is still green. :-P

To the moderators:

Please force-edit by your privileges the title of the news article about cpu-monitor.

I think it is not readable in contents and it gives not any plain informations about the topics, which is an obliged duty for anybody posting news...

...and more it is malicious regarding other OSes.

Too bad behaviour.

With respect,

Raffaele

Do that, they are against software patents which would make programming a living hell for independend developers (and the new parliamant will vote on patents). I'd offer a free beer for every vote for the Greens if that was permitted ;) If you are German: Greens, FDP, PDS against patents, SPD claimst to be against but their minister voted for them (liars), CDU, CSU support patents.

Nice.

The "lock" status isn't save and there's no tooltype to specify it: please add an option for that in the next versions and that will be perfect ;)

NOSIZEGADGET is just useful when you want a normal window just w/o SIZEGADGET.

When using BORDERLESS (which only removes the intuitionborder) NOSIZEGADGET is useless.

And "locked" setting is stored automatically on quit (envarc:CPUMONITOR.x.cfg). For the rest you have to play around a bit with the MUI settings. And don't forget to snapshot the windowsize/position! :-)

(sounds more difficult than it is actually, see screenshot ;)

@tokai

Can you please put meaningful and useful information into the summary section and quit demanding people to click on the "Read More" link. It's already annoying me so much that I'm starting to avoid your "news" posts. The titles are even horrid, "Updated utility not for 68k, OS4, AROS, UAE or Amithlon... also not for p.OS", Could have been written as "CPU Monitor 1.3 update for MorphOS released".

As for the summary, I would have put: "[link]CPU Monitor[/link] goes through a new batch of bug fixes, updates, and configuration changes in this release. New tooltypes allow for more options." or whatever. Set the [link] pointing to a simple page about the program complete with images and downloading options.

THEN put the rest of the stuff into the "details". If you need help learning how to post the "correct" way, go find anything posted about ImageFX here on ANN for some examples.

OMG! When someone starts a flamethread noone is annoyed by the way the newsposting is made. But when someone actually releases a piece of software and still has a bit fun with that some ppl have nothing else to do as to critice the newsposting instead of trying out the software and give constructive feedback about it.

I have the feeling you're not interested anyway in my newsitem. I personaly just think it's good to bring some positive humour on ann.lu, so that some ppl actually have a good read besides all that negative flaming in the other threads.

If you think different feel free to ignore my newspostings (they are marked with my nick, so it should be very easy to avoid them for mature reader).

As an amigan user (and even maybe future Pegasos user) I found your title rather disturbing and one-sided trollish, and you can't trade your bad behaviour back with a smile.

At least you also demonstrated bad attitude togheter with haughty-like ignorance, because you forgot almost two:

AmigaOS-XL [The Amiga Amithlon-like emulator based on Unix (QNX ???)]

AOSoLIN [(Amiga autostart emulator based on UAE and Slackware (Slackware???)]

And don't forget UAE is for Unix/Linux only.

You deserve to mention also *WIN*UAE, MacUAE, and other flavours like UAE-X for X-Box platforms.

;-P

(Now it is my moment to put a smiley on)

Again you continue in your offensive behaviour.

You started a trollish and flamish thread and it has nothing to to with the update of your (at least good program).

Your know perfectly that your title is OFF-TOPIC and disturbing, and with it you broke almost two main rules of ANN.

-> To post titles IN topic

-> Not to post flamish titles

(and don't be surprised if your thread could be closed by maintainers of ANN who could also ask you to start another and mainly polite-one thread)

>But when someone actually releases a piece of software
>and still has a bit fun with that some ppl
>have nothing else to do as to critice the newsposting

Again your behaviour exceeded the decence and dignity.

Stay in topic and don't be offensive regarding people who want only that the two sided competition between the two amiga-like platforms will respect rules of:

FAIR-PLAY

A word that I think you never heard of.

With respect,

Raffaele

Raffaele, lighten up! To me it seems you're taking it way too seriously.
There's something that is called "sense of humor", and this something is strictly connected to something else called satire. I think that it's refreshing to sometimes make a laugh at the stupid flames. Afer all, for all of us (I think the *vast* majority) who do not make a living from the Amiga (or the Amiga-like world, if you prefer), our hobby is simply supposed to be fun.
It's quite sad to see we came to the point that we can't stand a joke... But personally I do like the way tokai (BTW, one of the most active/productive developers still present in this so called community - and I hope this is appreciated) presents his works. Maybe he should put the name of the program before the "Read more" link, but that's it...

Kind regards,
Andrea

Actually, you raise an interesting point. A CPU monitor isn't groundbreaking news, however it is a new software tool that few people have heard about. There are dozens of new or updated Amiga utils being uploaded to Aminet every week. How about a weekly news item that lists the latest software that has appeared on Aminet? It could promote the utilities that rarely get a news item and help the Ann crowd to move beyond the political discussions that dominate this board.

I would be happy to try the program out... unfortunately I can't, I've been removed from possible supported OSs. Besides, this is the first news posting I've criticized of yours when I've overlooked the previous meaningless posts.

I Agree 100%... BUT, if you are going to put in some humor, please don't abuse how the news section is setup and drop the humor into the details portion... All I ask is that you start using the "Summary" and "Title" like you should and drop everything else into the "details". Your news posting is just as bad as the news items that contain a single word with a meaningless title and a link. Think about it, why would an individual hungry for news go after a bone with no meat?

Ok, ok, ok... let's made an example:

What about if in the past appeared a news item named:

"TCP/IP stack available for OS4, UAE, Amithlon, etc., etc...
...AND NOT for Morphos"

I think you had become upset and had attacked the author of the news by posting like mad thousands of topics... or not?

Luckily, who posted about Roadshow in the past, was polite even with you morphers...

Got the point?
