IntuitionBase continues to evolve, we are now able to bring you a shop where you can purchase items for your Amiga and help support us at the same time :-) Currently you're able to buy 2 rather nice case badges from us at a reasonable price, so why not check the shop out and do a spot of shopping :-) Still more to come, so stay tuned!

From the shop: Now I know your thinking thats expensive, but think of it as a donation to us and the badge is your free gift :-).

Sounds familiar. At least it's less than $50 this time around, it goes to a noble cause, and one might actually receive the 'gift'... ;')

The 60% 'its teh new amiga omfg' tax on Terons sold by Eyetech really ought to include at least a stupid case badge for their poor marks^Wcustomers. But hey, now there's YET ANOTHER 'AmigaOne' logotype. Brand management at its best, as usual.

I always thought the AmigaOne ROM dongle should somehow be wired to a case badge or bezel thing; that way everybody's A1 box would get the exclusive identity to match the exclusive function. "Amiga Inside" would be ensured because if you popped off the badge, the thing wouldn't boot. Superficial and contrived? Yes, but consistent.

Jeez, just give it a rest.

We KNOW you don't like the AmigaONE, we KNOW you think it's expensive... there's really no need to go on about it. Just makes you look a bit silly to be honest.

Yerssss...

Just as a matter of interest, does anybody know how many hardware vendors have licensed their hardware for AOS4?

Anybody?

Sorry, what? I'm afraid I can't hear you at the back - you'll have to speak up...

Oh dear; yet another great idea tragically betrayed by bad luck. Pity no-one spotted that inifinitesimal chance of failure at the beginning, eh? But who could have known? Who, indeed; even now, the tiny flaw is hard for even the brightest of intellects to see, isn't it, DaveP?

Look, seriously, you can't complain that OS4 isn't ready AND complain that it hasn't been licensed to other platforms. OS4 doesn't even exist (for end users) for ONE platform. Give it a frigging rest ;-)

Maybe you make too many assumptions about what I was referring to, even Gregg's sharp 20:20 forum vision failed him no matter how much I trimmed out of Gary_C's original post.

Yes, when is Bill Buck going to license the design of the Peg II so that we can get some reasonable priced boards instead of the expensive crap ones that DCE is making?

Fine, let's get on-topic. Have the IntuitionBase.com maintainers ANY licenses that allow them to use a) the AMIGA trademark (courtesy of Amiga Inc.) and b) the Amiga One trademark (courtesy of Eyetech Ltd.) for COMMERCIAL merchandize products?

No flame wars, please. A simple "Yes" or "No" will be sufficient.

Is Ryu licensed to sell Amiga branded stuff? If not, that makes him a pirate doesn't it? And shouldn't we blacklist pirate sites?

Letting what show through? I'm not trying to hide anything. Actually I thought my idea of the ROM dongle being visible on the case front was terrific, but accept that it might not be workable. It addresses the "no official AmigaOne case" problem to some extent. It would be superficial in the sense that it's surface-mounted, and could be taken as a metaphor for the dongle, which is a business solution, not a technical one. This is where the "contrived" aspect comes in, but that topic's been discussed to death already. Anyway, lighten up.

BTW, I'm sorry for deflecting the thread away from the main point, which was the opening of the IntuitionBase shop. It's great that the shop is offering these badges in the absence of something similar from Eyetech. I also wondered about the copyright issue, though. This seems to be a violation, although I guess a license could be obtained if there's any way to contact the IP holders, who seem to be in stealth mode.

I don't "not like" the AmigaOne. Ever since the PowerMac clones were killed and the BeBox discontinued and the PiosOne project shelved, it has seemed like the PPC desktop was destined to be limited to Apple computers. In that context, it's amazing and great that *anything* else has arrived for this market, and I appreciate that this hardware has been made available for AOS4. But once past the "wow, a non-Apple desktop PPC computer" reaction, it seems the devil is in the details, as they say, meaning the price and technical problems with this board could be fatal flaws.

Actually I hope the AmigaOne does succeed, because that would reinforce the viability of alternative computer hardware in general. But, seeing the reaction on the PowerPC Debian list, for example, it looks like it'll be a long uphill battle for that particular board. Lest you suspect my motives, I don't really think the AmigaOne and the Pegasos are competing products for the most part. The AmigaOne is not a contender in the PPC Linux field that Genesi has been pushing into. And, in the "amiga-like OS" market, people have pretty much made up their minds already and in any case it isn't a big enough market to keep either company afloat by itself.

Back to your comment, my post wasn't meant to be taken all that seriously; I'd say that you're looking a bit defensive to jump on it like that.
