A new version of the Firmware V1.52 for the Kickflash flashrom-card by individual Computers for Zorro-equipped Amigas is available. This update fixes a bug in the memory allocation that kept certain A3000 models from starting properly. The programmer-team Coyoteflux are now working to implement kickstart remapping for the next update.

If Coyote Flux is involved, I guess never, unless they've had a change of
heart.

Sorry for my ignorance... but what is this "Kickflash OS4 firmware" ?

What does it have to do with OS4 ?

Leo.

In reply to Comment 3 (Leo):
I think topic is little bit misleading.. IIRC kickflash can be used to speed up booting process on classic hardware (without need to load kickstart in memory and reboot machine), so on classic machines os4 kickstart is loaded via kickflash.

Hi Jens,
Any news on the next version of Catweasel yet. I have my A1 running OS4 and would like to get a Catweasel for floppy access.

that's sad.

I remember the 2 brothers at Pianeta Amiga (here in Italy) in 2002, showing the first Pegs. (or at least the first Pegs that we saw in Italy)

Others 2 victims of BBs "custom strategy".

In reply to Comment 1 (benny Lu):
Is this a joke? This is a zorro card to speed the booting of
classic Amigas. Since AOS4 is intended to run on classic Amigas
with Cyberstorms and Blizzards, putting an updated kickstart
rom in them via this card makes sense, so they don't have to double
boot before AOS4 comes up. (At least, I think it might work that
way.)

Unless the Pegasos has suddenly grown zorro slots, there is nowhere
to put this card, and even if it had them, this would be like offering
a prosthetic leg to an olympic sprinter with two good ones.

Now some idiot has brough the subject into the thread and you added to it, would you care to enlighten us all with your knowledge of how they got screwed exactly?

Steve

On topic - with the speed a ROM can be loaded from disk via OF or uBoot...ROM or FLASH technology is irrelevant outside of embedded applications.

I wonder how that flash works... Can user select between OS4 and OS3 boot? I remember I could boot to AmigaOS on my BPPC (MorphOS was the default) just choosing AmigaOS partition from the early startup menu. Not big deal really.
