I've made an AmigaOS 3.x IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client. It needs a lot of work still, but I thought I'd finally let everyone use what I've done so far. This software is UNFINISHED, and is very much BETA. View screenshots and download the archive from the WookieChat Homepage It's not as good as AmIRC yet, and still has bugs to iron out, but one feature this client has that other clients dont is multiple server support.. i.e. connect to more than one server at once in the same window. It runs on OS4 and OS3.x. Havent tested it on MOS but that should work too. Read the readme in the archive, and enjoy. :)

Heh, I tried it quickle here on MorphOS. Works great but it is maybe too basic ;) And at least here if I enter wrong server name GUI gets stuck.

Looks promisign well done :)

I would like to see these features, if not yet implemented.

* Arexx port
* Support for the multiple IRC-servers in the same window.
* User defineable buttons under userlist (like in AmIRC)
* Colour hilighting (join, part etc).
* OS4 and MOS native versions :)

It should be noted that if you wanted to name it after the furry tall animals
from Star Wars, Wookiee has two 'e's.

If it's after the cave near Cheddar, then it's okay :)

Cool! I will try this out. You don't need
tonnes of useless features in an IRC program.
Just basic chat functionality.

This looks really promising! Make a MorphOS-native version also! :)

No need. Seems like this 68k version works just fine.

Next milestone: AmIrc ;-)

@miksuh:

Looks like it already is running on two servers from the same window...

AfterX and AmigaWorld.

if so, what configuration do you have?

Ooops, it's already using MUI... seeing first screenshot (MUI with Gadtools look) I thought it was not the case ;)

Nice... But unstable here on MorphOS 1.4...

Leo..

it seems you need to set the stack high before you run the program. have you tried that? stack 200000 or 300000 seems to do .. might be overkill, I'm not sure.

Hm, it's depressing that I'd like to say "surely there're some ideas from Virtual IRC for OS/2 that might used here" ... but I've been off OS/2 and on EPIC for so long that I can't remember what any would be. (All the hardcore users liked Openchat anyway, if I recall...)

Since you're using a "MDI"-like interface, maybe Xircon is worth a look, in contrast to mIRC and AmIRC.

Using a single * for parts/joins is obviously dangerous, because they can't be distinguished from an action/pose.

Aside from that, yes, it's an IRC client, and if anyone needs *too many* advanced features, they're caring too much about IRC. ;)

Okay i seem to be missing something with connecting to another server in a new tab. I start a new tab and do a /server but it always dumps me out of my previous server in my first tab.

Ideas?

In reply to Comment 25 (trott3r):
hmm, no idea sorry.. it works fine here.
are you sure you're disconnected from the first server you connect to? because the string in the window titlebar is currently only updated when you connect to a server or when you change your nick..
