Posted by Anonymous on 19-Jun-2004 06:14 GMT | your payment methods are worse than Microsofts. One payment gives access to
verions for just one month? Monthly payment to keep up to date?
how mainframe 1980's
I believe that if you pay for software, you should get all the fixes etc free.
ie one payment covers all minor revisions
especially as this LiveCD is based 99% on other peoples very hard work! |

PegXMACSP beta for AmigaONE Available! : Comment 6 of 23 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Darrin on 19-Jun-2004 10:42 GMT | and the reason why AmigaOne/Peg1 owners have to pay 5 or 10 Euros compared to Peg 2 owners who pay 2 or 5 Euros is...?
I'm waiting for Alkis to tell me that the AmigaOne/Peg 1 download is twice the size of the Peg2 download as we "only pay for the server traffic" ;-)
This gripe aside, nice work and a great idea. Well done. |

The Pegasos prices are subsidised, of course! ;^) |

PegXMACSP beta for AmigaONE Available! : Comment 8 of 23 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 19-Jun-2004 11:03 GMT | If this is to cover bandwidth charges then 1. it's quite expensive and 2. it would make more sense to charge per download.
I'd probably just pay for one month at some point when the release is mature and get it. But the subscription-thing I don't quite get. |

Thats your belief ,NOT mine !

erm excuse me, I literally had to re-write the live scripts to get it to work on the Pegasos and Amigaone!, the source code is freely available on request. |

Twice the problems, and two different machines.

Same image size, just two camps to keep happy.
This gripe aside, nice work and a great idea. Well done.

Charge per download??, i will have 2 updates per month - subscribers are getting a good deal for a month!.
I'd probably just pay for one month at some point when the release is mature and get it. But the subscription-thing I don't quite get.
There are plenty of other projects that ask for payment i.e libranet, xandros, lindows etc etc
Im asking for a closed source community thats all, im not charging for the software!. |

Posted by Anonymous on 19-Jun-2004 20:14 GMT | In reply to Comment 15 (PegXlin DEV): Maybe subscribers *are* getting a good deal per month, but I'd rather just grab a new version now and then rather than pay a continuing fee. Of course I can just do that by subscribing now and then.
I wasn't really comparing it to other projects - just as a stand-alone product that I think about investing in :) |

I think you miss understand my subscribtion, i have two options for people,
1. subscribers can pay 5 euros when they feel like for a month (i.e you)
or
2.Subscribers can pay a monthly of 2 euros and gain access to the download part of the site anytime they like - it works out cheaper because you are paying about a quid (uk) wheres the first option you are paying double just to download a few times.
Of course I can just do that by subscribing now and then.
exactly :-)

Well it nice of you to think that ;-)
I dont expect people to invest in it, just appreciate the hard work we developers put into projects!. |

just a guess but I would assume AmigaOne users have proven they are the type who will pay for just about anything, when they bought an 800 m/b |
